Gili Air

The Gili Islands are a group of 3 tiny islands in Indonesia, comprising Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. This tiny archipelago is situated off the coast of northwest Lombok Island.

 

Sandy beaches fringed with palm trees abound, and these islands are renowned for their coral reefs just offshore.

 

Sea turtles swim at Turtle Point, on the smallest island of Gili Meno, whilst on Gili Trawangan, the largest island, a sunken ship lies at Wreck Point near Mentigi Beach.

 

Calm reigns on these three islands, the quietest of which is Gili Air - where a distinctly chilled out vibe reigns. There are no cars - and the principal means of getting about is by Cidomo - a horse-drawn carriage.
