Your Destinations

India can make a strong claim to be the most exciting and rewarding travel destination in the world. From the exhilarating pace of life in its colourful and vibrant cities, to its exquisite temples and superb scenery, few visitors ever leave disappointed.

This is a journey through the heart of India to explore old and new part of Delhi the capital city, the Taj Mahal in Agra exemplifying the art and architecture of the Mughals; the beautiful palaces and bustling bazaars of Jaipur epitomizing the rich culture of Rajputana. A well preserved haven of history, art, architecture and culture despite the onslaught of modernity and urbanization in the region. The tour starts in Amritsar and finishes in New Delhi and comprises of 9 nights and 10 days of exploring the Indian Golden Triangle along with Amritsar.

Your Itinerary

Day 1: UK - Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be met by your TBi representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in.  The rest of the day is free to do as you please.

Overnight at Le Meridien or similar with breakfast included.

Day 2: Tour of Delhi
After breakfast, proceed on your tour of new and old Delhi that will take you past the magnificent Red Fort (which is closed on Mondays) and Jama Masjid.  Highlights include Kotla Firoze Shah, which are the ruins of an old 14th century fort and a visit to Raj Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated in 1948.

The afternoon will take you to the Presidential Palace, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, through the impressive Rajpath to the World War I memorial arch, photo stop at the India Gate, culminating with a visit the Qutub Minar, the 72m high Minaret.

Overnight at Le Meridien or similar with breakfast included.

The siren call of Paratha Lane in Old Delhi – where food vendors make and sell parathas on the pavement in front of their tiny one-room cafes, stalls offer jewel-like fruit and vegetables, and smoke drifts from a thousand woks – is entirely seductive. It is exactly where you want to be.

Day 3: Delhi To Agra
This morning after breakfast proceed to Agra (approx. travel time: 3hrs). Upon arrival at Agra you will transferred to your hotel where you can check-in. Spend the afternoon unearthing the beauty of the Agra Fort, behind its forbidding red sandstone battlements lie palaces that tell the story of the Moghul Empire.  Continue onto the Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays), arriving in time for sunset.

Overnight at Courtyard Marriott with breakfast included.

The Taj has been so hyped through time that seeing it seems destined to be an anti-climax. But it isn't. The tomb's whiteness, its symmetry, its curves, majestic scale and exquisite detail are unreal.

Day 4: Agra to Jaipur
After breakfast you will drive to Jaipur, visiting Fatehpur Sikri en-route.

Fatehpur Sikri, is the deserted red sandstone city, built by the Great Mughal Emperor Akbar as his capital and palace in the late 16th century.  It was abandoned soon after it was built when the local wells went dry and it remains today in much the same condition that it was over 300 years ago. It is complete with palaces and mosques and used to be a town larger than London when it was originally constructed. Now it is an extraordinary place to wander around with its buildings in near perfect condition.

On arrival at Jaipur, proceed to check in at your hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure.

Following buffet breakfast you will proceed to visit the capital of Amber to see the fabulous Amber Fort. Maharaja Mansingh, Mughal Emperor Akbar’s most successful General, started the construction of Amber Fort in the 17th century. Before the City Palace was constructed in Jaipur, Amber was the seat of power. The fort is surrounded by fortified battlements and overlooks the Moat Lake. Ruins and remains are spread over the Aravali hills and sprawling crenulated walls lattice the surrounding area.

The afternoon is devoted to Jai Singh's Observatory which was built in the 17th century by the founder of Jaipur who, besides being a prince was also soldier, astronomer and builder. Visit the City Palace, a part is now a museum that contains fine Rajput and Moghul paintings, rare manuscripts and an armoury, old carpets, and even amazingly embroidered clothes of the Maharajas and the Maharanis.
