Your Destination

As the northernmost capital in the world, Reykjavik enjoys a unique atmosphere few other capitals can match. Overlooked to the north by the volcanic range Esja, this picturesque city is the perfect place for a laid-back break or one filled with action!

Laugavegur is the beating heart of the city, a street brimming with bars, restaurants, and boutique shops - stop by one of the cosy cafes to try Icelandic favourites like rye bread with toppings like herring or trout, If you’re looking to soak up some culture, visit the Reykjavik Art Museum to see modern art by Icelandic artists, or the National Museum of Iceland to dive into the city’s Viking roots.

Of course, Reykjavik is also the ideal starting point to discover the wild landscapes of this stunning island - join a tour of the popular Golden Circle, a 230km route taking in Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and the breathtaking Gullfoss waterfall. Why not stop at Fontana Wellness and have a moment in the thermal baths?

Northern Lights Tour (For 3, 4, 5 or 7-Night Stays)

Your Included Excursions
See the Northern Lights in all their glory! Unforgettable experience! Choosing a guided tour increases your chances of seeing the lights. The team of seasoned experts review and study the weather, locations and aurora forecast on a daily basis to see if the odds are favorable or not.

This tour takes you to see a spectacular phenomenon which can be seen from late August to mid-April. The Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis, are caused by the interaction of particles from the sun with the upper atmosphere near the Magnetic Pole.

The tour is weather dependent, sightings are not guaranteed. However, you will experience Icelandic nature during the night, Milky Way, stars, moon, clouds and total darkness. Please note that indicated return times can vary.

If you don‘t see any Northern Lights during this tour, you are invited to join the tour again, free of charge.

Where do you go?
The experts decide where the best location is each night. One of the most important thing is we go away from the city lights. Based on the forecast we decide if it is worth going at all, and if yes, our experts decide on the most likeliest place to go to if we should go west, north-south or east of Reykjavik on a particular night we don't know in advance.

Additional information:
Remember to dress warmly.
This tour depends on weather, activity, and sightings are not guaranteed.
Indicated return times can vary due to road & weather conditions.
If you don't see any lights on the tour you can re-book again for free.
The tour is scheduled daily, however, we do cancel the tour if the forecast for the weather- and the aurora is not promising enough when we cancel, people who are booked can change their booking to another date, or if you are not able to do so, a full refund is possible.

The Golden Circle & Fontana Wellness (For 3, 4, 5 or 7-Night Stays)

Your Included Excursions
This amazing day tour takes you around the Golden Circle to see three of Iceland’s highlights Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir geothermal area and Thingvellir National Park, before heading to Fontana’s natural steam baths. The original sauna was built in the 1920s and was little more than a shack with two compartments, built above the hot spring that bubbles and gurgles below the ground. Today, a modern complex welcomes you to relax with various hot tubs and steam baths naturally heated by Icelandic hot springs.

Upon arrival in Fontana you will take a short walk with a local person to a nearby natural hot spring which is used as a local natural bakery for the village. You will get to know the methods how to bake a bread in a hot spring and watch while they dig up a typical Icelandic rye bread which has been slowly baked in the hot spring. Before dipping into the Fontana hot tubs and enjoy the natural steam baths you will be offered to taste the rye bread. Tour duration: 09:00 - 18:30

South Shore Adventure (For 4, 5 or 7-Night Stays)

Your Included Excursions
This tour is ideal for nature lovers of all kinds. We take you along the south coast of Iceland, one of the country’s most scenic regions, as far as Vík, a charming village surrounded by high beautiful bird cliffs. South Iceland is special for that it is one of the flattest regions on the island. Because of that, most of all grain farming in Iceland is done there. The high mountains to the north, shield the area from the harshest winds from the north.

Among the stops on this tour are at the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Seljalandsfoss is part of the Seljandsá river, which has its origins in Eyjafjallajökull glacier. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to walk behind it. Skógafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall, is the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls walk over to Þórsmörk. The waterfall was also used in the films Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

We will also stop at Reynisfjara black sand beach, with the Reynisdrangar rock formations and columnar basalt. It is one of the most spectacular beaches in Iceland but can be dangerous, and we kindly ask our guests not to go too close to the ocean and go by guidelines. Additionally, we will stop by Sólheimajökull and walk up to a small lake which has formed in front of the retreating glacier. Tour duration: 09:00 – 19:30.

Your Included Excursions
The ocean around Iceland is home to some the most magnificent creatures on Earth. This tour will give you the possibility of seeing whales in their natural habitat as well as the rich and thriving birdlife Iceland has to offer. You might see some spectacular behavioural displays from breaching humpbacks to spinning dolphins and graceful minke whales.

Within the whale watching area is a diverse seabird population, including the hard diving gannets and clumsy, yet adorable looking puffins (1 May – 15 Aug). These tours are educational and interactive. On each tour passengers get to see and feel whale teeth and bones, get a chance to see specimens straight from the ocean and take part in Special Tours whale research!Focus is on comfort and personal service while making sure the environment is protected and respected in every way possible. You will also find skilled & friendly crew on board and the guides are very experienced.
