Your Itinerary In Detail —
Day 1-3
DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT KEFLAVIK AIRPORT FROM THE UK
Arrive at Keflavik airport, and transfer to your Reykjavik hotel on your own.
If you arrive earlier in the day, you may want to consider adding a day trip, such as visiting one of the nearby geothermal lagoons. It's a great way to experience everyday Icelandic life and maybe meet some locals. It's also nice to walk around the old town, perhaps visiting one of the museums or relaxing in a cozy cafe.
Overnight in Reykjavik.
DAY 2: THINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK - GEYSIR - GULLFOSS (about 205 km)
Meet your guide and start your Icelandic adventure!
After a quick introduction to Reykjavik, you will head to Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland's largest lake, and Thingvellir National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to the oldest parliamentary government in the world, founded in the 10th century. It is also the place where the North American and European tectonic plates meet. You will have the unusual experience of walking between two continents! The next stop on your trip will be Gullfoss, the "golden waterfall", where several hiking trails will allow you to take pictures of the magnificent waterfall. You will also visit the Geysir Hot Springs area to see the famous Geysir and Strokkur, as well as many other bubbling hot springs and mud pools.
During the day, you will get a taste of local Icelandic life by visiting the geothermal greenhouses of Fridheimar, an Icelandic family farm where tomatoes are grown using organic geothermal energy. The day will end in Hveragerdi, a pretty town located in a geothermal activity zone where the locals have cleverly used underground hot springs to heat homes, as well as greenhouses where flowers, fruits and vegetables are grown.
Dinner (excluding drinks) and overnight in the Hveragerdi area.
DAY 3 : THJORSARDALUR VALLEY - SKOGAR - DYRHOLAEY - VIK (about 295 kilometers)

If the sky is clear, you can also see the impressive and beautiful volcano of Mount Hekla that dominates the area. Visit Stong, where you can see a replica of a Viking longhouse that was buried by a volcanic eruption of Hekla. The area was used as a filming location for season 4 of Game of Thrones. We will continue along the picturesque farmlands of Iceland's southern coast. Short stop to admire the waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. Continue to Dyrholaey and the thundering waves of the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara. End of the day in Vik, the southernmost city of Iceland.
Please note: Dyrholaey is closed for the bird nesting season between mid-May and June 25.
Dinner (excluding drinks) and overnight in the Vik region.
Day 4-6
DAY 4: VATNAJOKULL NATIONAL PARK - JOKULSARLON GLACIAL LAGOON - HOFN LAVA FIELDS - GLACIAL LAGOON WITH ICEBERGS - EUROPE'S LARGEST GLACIER
Today, you will walk through a world of glaciers! You will visit the southern part of Vatnajokull National Park, named after the largest glacier in Europe. The total area of the park covers almost 14% of Iceland, making it the largest national park in Western Europe. You'll pass through vast sand plains created by glacial outwash as you head east. Visit the famous Skaftafell area, a site of outstanding natural beauty. You will also see Svinafellsjokull, one of the most beautiful glacial "tongues" that slowly descend from Vatnajokull. Visit the glacial lagoon of Jokulsarlon where you can admire the breathtaking spectacle of floating icebergs. Not far from there is the spectacularly beautiful Diamond Beach, named for the shrunken icebergs that settle on the black sand before drifting out to sea.
You will spend the night in Hofn, a fishing port located in the shadow of the Vatnajokull glacier.
Dinner (excluding drinks) and overnight in Hofn.
DAY 5: HOFN - EASTERN FJORDS - EGILSSTADIR (about 260 kilometers)
Depart from Hofn over the Almannaskard Pass, stopping to admire the majestic coastline. Continue to the towering mountains that form the beautiful eastern fjords. You will also pass through villages, each with its own history and charm. One of them is the tiny village of Breiddalsvik where your group will visit the Beljandi microbrewery and taste some of their wonderful beers. The road will take you to the town of Egilsstadir, located near Iceland's largest forest and a lake said to be home to a legendary (friendly) monster.
Dinner (excluding drinks) and overnight in the Egilsstadir area.
DAY 6: MYVATN LAKE REGION (about 255 kilometers)
Explore the empty vastness of the desolate yet hauntingly beautiful Modrudalsoraefi desert plateau as you head toward the Myvatn Lake area. The route passes through a historic farm, Modrusalsoraefi, located at the highest elevation of any working farm in Iceland. Stop at Dettifoss, the largest and most powerful waterfall in Europe. Walk along the pseudo-craters of Skutustadir and have a look at Grjotagja, a cave with underground hot springs. Explore the peculiar lava formations of Dimmuborgir. They seem to have been built by fantastic creatures. Legend has it that elves live here, so be respectful during your visit. You will then visit Akureyri, the colorful "capital" of North Iceland. The city has charming buildings and a beautiful view of the Eyjafjordur fjord. After spending some free time in Akureyri, you will continue along the coastal roads of Eyjafjordur and the Troll Peninsula. You will certainly be surprised by the steep mountains that offer a breathtaking view of the Arctic Sea and its black sand coastline. Stop in Siglufjordur, a town with some of the most beautiful wooden buildings in the country. Visit the town's Herring Era Maritime Museum, which recreates the atmosphere of the early 20th century, when Siglufjordur was transformed into a thriving town. Along majestic mountains and narrow passes, you'll spend the night in Skagafjordur, a picturesque region full of historical sites and folk tales.
Dinner (excluding drinks) and overnight in northwest Iceland.

Enjoy an introduction to the unique Icelandic horse breed, with its typical fifth gait - the tolt. This horse breed has remained unchanged since the time of the Vikings. Cross the Holtavorduheidi plateau and enter western Iceland where you will pass through Borgarfjordur, an area that is internationally recognized for its beautiful volcanic and wooded landscapes and Viking history. Hike to the top of the Grabrok crater for a breathtaking view. Listen to the rushing and powerful waters of Deildartunguhver, the largest hot spring in Europe. Stop to admire the magnificent waterfalls of Hraunfossar, where the bright blue water rushes through black lava formations. Not far away is Barnafoss, an even more brilliantly blue waterfall.

Walk along the beach of Djupalonssandur, a unique pebble landscape. In the picturesque harbor village of Arnarstapi, you can see beautiful basalt rocks stacked on top of each other. An Icelandic saga mentions that Snaefellsnes and its inhabitants are protected by a benevolent half-troll that lives on the glacier.
