Your Destination —
This short tour will take you to some of its highlights, including steaming geysers and crashing waterfalls, and of course a trip hunting the awe-inspiring Northern Lights.
The old harbour is the heart and soul of Reykjavík. With a backdrop of majestic Mount Esja and the beautiful Faxafloi Bay, you’ll find world-class restaurants, cutting-edge galleries, funky cafés, and quirky shops. With it all, you’re still at the heart of a working harbour, where you can watch ships come in with their daily catches.
For stunning views of the city climb up Hallgrímskirkja Church tower or visit The Pearl - an otherworldly creation with a viewing platform and a revolving restaurant on top of hot water storage tanks. The Pearl is also an interactive museum about the Wonders of Iceland. Current installations include a simulation of walking through a glacier and ice cave. Other displays will be added through the year.
Please note: The northern lights are a natural phenomena based on weather conditions, there is no guarantee of sightings. No refund will be given if you do not see them.
This package is not recommended for children under 8 years old and younger due to the late night nature of the excursions.

The rest of the day is open for your own activities. We suggest a walk in the Old Town area with galleries, museums, restaurants and pubs. A visit to one of the city´s geothermal swimming pools is a great way to shake off jet-lag and a very Icelandic activity. It is also a great way to meet Icelanders. A popular place to visit is the Old Harbour, which has recently developed into a charming and vibrant artistic and craft area. Museums, craft shops and cosy restaurants make this an ideal place to spend an afternoon or evening.
Enjoy the delicious and plentiful breakfast at the hotel. The day is yours to spend as you like. Please make sure you sure you are in the hotel lobby for pick-up for the Northern Lights by boat tour (20:00 pick up for 2 Nov – 14 Mar departures; 21:00 for 15 Mar – 15 Apr departures).
Hunting for the northern lights from the ocean is an amazing experience! Start by viewing the beautifully-lit city skyline as you sail from Reykajvik. Within only 15 – 30 minutes, you‘ll be in prime northern lights viewing areas. Spotting the aurora borealis out on the North-Atlantic ocean with beautiful mountains and the city lights in the background is something you won't forget! The boat is not restricted by roads, so it can travel easily to great viewing areas.
The boat is perfectly designed for northern lights viewing. Overalls are provided on-board to keep you nice and warm on the deck as you listen to what the guide has to say about the lovely colours dancing in the sky. There is also a lounge area in the boat where you can relax and warm up with hot drinks and refreshments (not included). Free wi-fi is also provided on the boat so you can share pictures of your experiences with your friends. Throughout the tour you can also view an original Northern Lights video, full of interesting facts and folklore about the auroras. The tour is about 2.5–3 hours, based on northern lights viewing conditions. Transfer back to your hotel afterwards.

Breakfast at your hotel. Morning departure on the Golden Circle and Fontana Spa tour. This tour combines the must-see beauty of the Golden Circle with Icelandic-style spa relaxation.
Start with a visit to Thingvellir National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the heart and soul of the Icelandic people. Here is where the Vikings founded what would become the world‘s oldest surviving Parliament in 930 A.D: This is also where the European and North American tectonic plates meet, and you can literally walk between continents as you explore this famous park. Known as the Queen of Waterfalls, Gullfoss is a beautiful dual-ledged waterfall thundering into a canyon. During the winter, it is especially lovely with parts of water frozen in mid-cascade. Nearby is the intriguing Geysir Geothermal area. Here you can see a variety of hissing and shooting hot springs, as well as coloured bubbling mud pots. The most famous geyser here is Strokkur, which erupts about every ten minutes.
Afterwards you'll head to Laugarvatn, a popular Icelandic resort town for its geothermal steam vents and lake. Relax in the natural steam baths and geothermal pools of the Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Steambaths spa. The steam bath cabins are comfortably built over churning steam vents, providing healthy, relaxing steam. Lounge around in the three geothermal pools, enjoy the sauna, and take a dip in the pristine hot spring-fed lake. A visit to the open air baths is a perfect opportunity to experience the beautiful countryside with its mountains, lakes and lava fields.
Before returning to Reykjavik, you will be offered some traditional sweet Icelandic rye bread which has been prepared by the spa´s restaurant and slow-baked in the natural hot springs.
