If you choose a flight which routes via the USA and are travelling under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), you must obtain an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) prior to departure. Passengers who have not received travel authorisation via ESTA prior to travel will be denied boarding. Please note that if you are denied from boarding, or are not allowed into the US for any reason, you will still be subject to our cancellation charges in accordance with our terms and conditions. 

Entry Requirements 

If your passport describes you as a British Citizen, you do not need a visa to enter the Dominican Republic. For non-British citizens, you should check the current entry requirements on the Dominican Republic Embassy website.

Departure tax
Departure tax is US$20. Scheduled airlines often include this charge in the price of the ticket. 

Health

There are increased levels of dengue cases in 2019. Please be sure to check all health advice on the following link before travelling, paying particular attention to the 'Other Risks' section. This advice is subject to change. 

If vaccinations or other preventive measures are required, you will need to visit your health professional at least 8 weeks before your trip.

UK health authorities have classified the Dominican Republic as having a risk of Zika virus transmission. For information and advice about the risks associated with Zika virus, visit the National Travel Health Network and Centre website.

Cases of chikungunya virus and dengue fever have been confirmed in the Dominican Republic. You should take steps to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.

Please note that passport, visa and health requirements can change. It is every traveller’s responsibility to ensure they have a valid passport, any required visas, and all the necessary vaccinations/health requirements as well as adequate insurance. 

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Please note: Due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the UK Government is currently requesting that all travellers returning to the UK, (with exceptions), must provide their journey and contact details up to 48 hours before arrival, and self-isolate at home for 14 days. These restrictions will be reviewed every three weeks. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) currently advises British nationals against all but essential international travel, and this advice is also being kept under constant review.

The rapid diagnostic test to be carried out in Dominican airports from July 30th onwards gives reliable results in less than 10 minutes through a blood serology test. Children under five and crew members are exempt from this new requirement which adds to a series of protocols announced earlier for the implementation of preventive measures in the tourism sector.
