10 Night Itinerary —

Day 1: UK / San José (Airport - San José 45 minutes)
Welcome to Costa Rica!
Meet our English speaking representative at the airport. Then transfer to your hotel located in downtown San José, our capital city. Receive your documentation of travel and accommodation at your hotel.

1 night in San José

Day 2: San José - Tortuguero (4h00 en route and 1h30 in boat)
Meet at your reception for a semi-collective transfer to the Tortuguero pier. Arrival in the city of Guápiles and breakfast in a local restaurant, before taking a boat to Tortuguero National Park, travelling on the canals, in the heart of the rainforest. Check in at the lodge, and lunch on site. Ride a boat to the small Caribbean village of Tortuguero to visit it, before heading to the lodge. Afternoon free to enjoy the facilities of the lodge and to walk around.

Between July and October, you can join a night excursion to observe the nesting of green turtles, baulas or loras.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Tortuguero - Arenal (1h30 in boat et 4h00 en route)
Boat trip to visit the canals of Tortuguero Park: it is a different and very fun way to discover this imposing panorama. (The entrance to the national park is not included: $ 15.00 per person). Breakfast at the lodge. Return to Guápiles by boat, and then have lunch in a local restaurant.

The car rental agent will meet you at the restaurant to give you your rental car.

Continuation to the north of the country to reach La Fortuna, a town at the foot of the Arenal volcano. Check in at your hotel.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4 : Arenal
Breakfast at the lodge.

Free day to enjoy the lodge or make an optional excursion in the region.

At the end of the day, you will head to the thermal baths of Baldi: relax and dine in this family complex offering 25 pools of warm or temperate mineralized water and pure (4 of them are at room temperature), a large natural sauna and spa for jacuzzi-type use, three minibars, two gourmet restaurants, 3.5 kilometers of paths and 3.4 acres of quaint tropical gardens.

Day 5 : Arenal – Granada (Nicaragua) (5h00 de route)

Continue towards Granada, passing the Peñas Blancas border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua. At the border you will change the rented car, you will get this assistance with the staff National/Alamo Car rental. The afternoon is to Afternoon free to enjoy the lodge or make an optional excursion in the area.

Day 6: Granada (Nicaragua)

Carriage Ride and Walking Tour in Granada included:
What better place to explore the colonial city of Granada from than a horse-pulled carriage? Sit back and relax while the horses walk you through the city. During the ride, you will pass by old colonial houses and important buildings. Sitting in the back of a carriage is for sure a more relaxed way to enjoy the city. Granada has narrow, often one-way streets, so once we jump off the carriage we will also have a walking tour. Your tour guide will give interesting facts and details of this colonial city. This tour lasts around 2 hours.

At the end of the day free to enjoy the lodge or make an optional excursion in the region.

Day 7: Granada (Nicaragua) – Rincón de la Vieja (3h30 en route)

Continue to Guanacaste province with a cowboy atmosphere and a radical change of scenery. You will have to change back the rented car at the border to continue your trip in Costa Rica.

The road will end on a track that joins the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park. Afternoon free to enjoy the lodge or make an optional excursion in the area.

Our suggestions for visits:
- Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park - walks from 2h to 4h walk depending on the level of walking to discover the dry tropical forest, its gigantic trees and mud pots (attention: park closed Mondays)
- Horseback riding

Day 8: Rincón de la Vieja – Tamarindo (3h00 en route)

Morning drive towards the Guanacaste Peninsula. You will pass by Liberia, as well as Nicoya to finally arrive at the seaside resort of Tamarindo. Check in at the hotel.

Afternoon free to enjoy the lodge and the beach nearby.

Later, you will be able to visit the surroundings of the Lodge accompanied by the local guide to discover this very humid tropical forest, its fauna and its flora. Back to the Lodge for lunch.

You have the rest of the day free to enjoy the lodge's facilities and on-site activities.

Jour 4: Tortuguero – Arenal (1h30 in boat and 4h00 en route)
Breakfast at the lodge.

Return to Guápiles by boat, then lunch at a local restaurant.

Car Hire —

Please note you cannot be guaranteed a specific make of car within a certain group.The minimum age for driving a hire car in Costa Rica is 21 and drivers must have held a full driving licence for a least 1 year.

The lead name on the booking will be confirmed as the named driver. The named driver must present a credit card in their name when collecting the car (credit cards in other names will not be accepted).

The named driver must also present a full valid driving licence on collection of the vehicle and in some cases a credit card or cash deposit will be required.

Please ensure that you check your car hire documents carefully once received as this will advise if there are any taxes/charges to be paid locally as well as potential mileage restrictions.

Travel Documents —

Once the booking process is complete, you will receive an automatic confirmation email from Voyage Prive detailing your chosen travel arrangements.Your official ATOL receipt and booking confirmation issued by the Tour Operator will follow within 5 days.

We will send all documents out as early as possible (subject to full payment being received) but you should receive all your documentation at least 10 days prior to departure. Generally, travel documents are sent via email however, in some cases they will be sent by post.

If you have booked Meet & Greet, you will receive a separate voucher for this via email.
