Your Itinerary —

The first part of this offer will take guests on a remarkable tour. The following itinerary explains the daily brief for the tour.

Day 1: UK - San Jose (Airport - San Jose - 45 minutes)
Welcome to Costa Rica! Meet our English speaking representative at the airport. Then transfer to your hotel located in downtown San José, the capital city. Receive your documentation of travel and accommodation at your hotel.

Day 2: San Jose - Arenal (3 hours)
After breakfast, the car rental agent will meet you at the lobby to give you a rental car. Continue to the north of the country to reach La Fortuna, a town at the foot of the Arenal Volcano. Check-in to your hotel and enjoy dinner with an overnight stay.

Day 3: Arenal
Early in the morning you will enjoy a visit to the hanging bridges of Místico Park. You will walk for at least 2 hours and pass for more than 5 suspension bridges accompanied by a guide specialised in the nature of Costa Rica and while keeping an eye on the different animals which populate this forest.

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a free day of leisure, exploring or making an optional excursion in the region. We recommend the Arenal Volcano National Park (closed on Mondays), the Fortuna River Waterfall and the Hot Springs.

Early in the morning you will enjoy a visit to the hanging bridges of Místico Park. You will walk for at least 2 hours and pass for more than 5 suspension bridges accompanied by a guide specialized in the nature of Costa Rica and while keeping an eye on the different animals which populate this forest.
Day 4: Arenal - Monteverde
After breakfast at the lodge, enjoy a free morning exploring the hotel or making an optional excursion. Continue to the Monteverde biological reserve, in the Tilaran Range, between the Central Valley and Guanacaste. It is one of the largest rainforest nature reserves in the country. It protects amphibians unique in the world, 400 species of birds including the mythical Quetzal resplendent, many species of butterflies, and 2500 varieties of plants. Our suggestions for visits include the butterfly farm, the canopy, the suspension bridges and the Santa Elena and Monteverde Reserve.

Day 5: Monteverde - Rincon de la Vieja (3 hours 30 minutes)
After breakfast at the lodge, continue to Guanacaste province to witness a cowboy atmosphere and a radical change of scenery. The road will end on a track that joins the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park. Enjoy an overnight stay.
Day 6: Rincon De la Vieja
After breakfast at the lodge, enjoy a free day discovering your surroundings or making an excursion. Our suggestions for visits are the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park (walks from 2-4 hours depending on the level of walking to discover the dry, tropical forest, its gigantic trees and mud pots (park closed Mondays), horse riding, tubing (descent of a river on a big tire), and canopy zip line. Enjoy an overnight stay.

Day 7: Rincón de la Vieja - Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica (1 hour drive)
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the Papagayo area in Guanacaste for your seaside stay at Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica. Return of the rental car to the Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica. Installation and overnight at the hotel.

Penultimate day: Guanacaste - San José (4h drive)

Flights: You may choose from Economy, Premium or Business class flights on sectors that they operate, at the next stage of the booking process.

The flights included are with either a scheduled or no-frills airline and are subject to live availability and prices can change. You can choose your preferred departure times during the booking process. Please select your flight options carefully as departure and arrival airports may differ.

Transfers: Transfers are included from San Jose Airport to your Standard or Superior Hotel in San Jose. Shared transfers are included in this offer between Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica and the San Jose City Hotel. Shared transfers are also included from the San Jose City Hotel to San Jose Airport.

For inbound transfer arrangements please confirm with your transfer provider when you arrive. Alternatively, please check with the reception of your accommodation. If you still require assistance, please call the transfer provider directly.

Car Hire: Car hire is included in a Daihatsu Bego for 2/3 people with a free upgrade to Suzuki Gran Vitra, from day 2 at 8 am to day 7 at 3 pm during your Fly Drive. It may be possible to add car rental for the whole duration of your stay including during your time at the Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica 5* at the next stage of the booking process for an additional fee (subject to availability). It is also possible to pay a supplement for an upgraded car type at the next stage of the booking process for an additional fee (subject to availability).

Entry Requirements 


You must ensure you have a valid passport to travel on. 


If your passport describes you as a British Citizen, you do not need a visa to enter Costa Rica. For non-British citizens, you should check the Costa Rica embassy website.

If you choose a flight which routes via the USA and are travelling under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), you must obtain an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) prior to departure. Passengers who have not received travel authorisation via ESTA prior to travel will be denied boarding. Please note that if you are denied from boarding, or are not allowed into the US for any reason, you will still be subject to our cancellation charges in accordance with our terms and conditions. 


Evidence of onward travel


Entry to Costa Rica may be refused if you are unable to produce evidence of return or onward travel (for example a return air ticket).


Airport tax


There’s a departure tax of $29 when leaving the country by air. Most airlines include this in ticket prices; a few have still not done so. Check with your airline or travel company whether you need to pay this separately.

Car Hire —

Please note you cannot be guaranteed a specific make of car within a certain group.
The minimum age for driving a hire car in Costa Rica is 21 and drivers must have held a full driving licence for a least 1 year.

The lead name on the booking will be confirmed as the named driver.  The named driver must present a credit card in their name when collecting the car (credit cards in other names will not be accepted).

The named driver must also present a full valid driving licence on collection of the vehicle and in some cases a credit card or cash deposit will be required.

Please ensure that you check your car hire documents carefully once received as this will advise if there are any taxes/charges to be paid locally as well as potential mileage restrictions.
