10-Night Tour
DAY 1 | San José (30 min)
Our local representative will receive and assist you at the airport. Transfer from Juan Santamaría International Airport to your hotel in San José.

DAY 2 | San José - Tortuguero (4 hrs on route & 1.5 hrs boat) (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Early check-out. Meet at the hotel reception at the agreed time. Transfer to Tortuguero in the North Caribbean. Tortuguero is one of Costa Rica's most popular ecotourism destinations, created in 1970 to protect endangered nesting sea turtles.
On route, stop in Guápiles to have a Costa Rican breakfast in a local restaurant, and then board the boat to Tortuguero, during which you can admire the landscapes.
Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, meet your guide and visit the Tortuguero village. Rest of the day at leisure to relax and enjoy the lodge facilities.
One of the most amazing natural spectacles in Tortuguero is the arrival of sea turtles. The Green Sea Turtle comes and lays eggs, which then later hatch, and hundreds of thousands of small sea turtles leave their nests to go into the ocean and continue the cycle.
The best time to observe nesting turtles is from mid-July through mid-October. Nesting occurs at night and observation requires going with a licensed guide. If you travel to Tortuguero during this time, you can take an optional guided tour direct from the hotel.

DAY 3 | Tortuguero - Sarapiqui (1.5 hrs boat & 2.5 hrs on route) (Breakfast, Lunch)
Early in the morning, get ready to explore the Tortuguero National Park. Discover its network of canals, lagoons and dense rainforest through a boat tour guided by an expert naturalist.
Sixty species of mammals inhabit the park such as spider monkeys, jaguars, sloths, river otters, and manatees. Over 300 species of birds can be observed, and there are 111 species of reptiles within the park including sea turtles, caiman, crocodiles, and boa constrictors.
At the agreed time, check out. Shared transfer by boat and land from Tortuguero to a restaurant in Guápiles. Enjoy a traditional lunch. At the restaurant, meet the Car Rental Representative to get your vehicle and all the necessary information.
Afterwards, continue your trip to your next destination: the always-verdant region of Sarapiqui. Enjoy optional activities such as a chocolate tour, a white-water rafting tour or a guided night walk at La Tirimbina Reserve.

DAY 6 | Arenal - Rincón de la Vieja (3 hrs on route) (Breakfast)
Drive to the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano area, in the Province of Guanacaste. At over 34,000 acres, this region contains 2 volcanoes, 32 rivers and streams, and an incredible variety of flora and fauna. You may see tapirs and even rare emerald toucans.
Rincón de la Vieja is approximately 15 miles northeast of the city of Liberia. During your stay, you can either the Rincon de La Vieja National Park on your own, or explore the following (at a possible extra charge):
- Rio Negro Hot springs & Mud Baths: Access pools (of varying temperatures) on both sides of the river by two hanging bridges. Heated volcanic clay is available to smooth all over your skin. After it dries, wash it off with a cool shower or jump in the river before soaking again in the hot pools.
- Oropendola Waterfall: This secluded waterfall is a short walk from the National Park’s entrance on a trail with varying terrain. A hanging bridge crosses the Rio Blanco canyon, leading you to a viewing platform. Oropendola Waterfall plunges an impressive 82 feet (25 meters).
- Las Chorreras Waterfall: This stunning location is easily accessible. Two side-by-side waterfalls cascade into a mineral water pool.
- La Victoria Waterfall: With a dramatic drop of 115 feet (35 meters), the Victoria Waterfall descends into the Rio Negro at Hacienda Guachipelin. At the base of the waterfall, you can swim in the crystal-clear pool.
