Recommendations:

• Comfortable, lightweight clothing is best for traveling in Costa Rica.
• Sunscreen, sunglasses, bathing suit, cap, waterproof jacket, hiking and tennis shoes, sandals and mosquito repellent can be very useful during your stay.
• If you are traveling with children, please note that Costa Rican law clearly states that children under the age of twelve must be seated safely in seats appropriate for their age, height, and weight. The car rental company provides a child safety seat or booster seat for an additional fee of $6 per day.

Car hire conditions:

-The minimum age to rent a vehicle or be a driver is 21 years old

-All drivers must have a current driver's license.

-The holder who signs the contract must have an international credit card, Visa, MC, Dinners Club, AMEX

-An additional driver has no additional cost

-The customer must carry the driving license in physical (not digital)

Please note:

When you rent a vehicle from National Car Rental, you are responsible for returning it in the same conditions in which you received it.

LDW offers the customer the opportunity to be released from liability to pay, regardless of whose fault it is, in the event of theft, damage to the finish of the vehicle due to vandalism or collision, with a deductible of $800.00 or $1500.00 depending on the type of vehicle rented. This does not cover other damage to the vehicle caused by negligence while driving through sand, water, under the influence of alcohol, overturning or the like, stipulated in the rental agreement.

The SLC releases the customer from economic liability for damage to third party properties up to ¢5,000,000.00 if involved in an accident with the rented vehicle and damages third party properties under the sole responsibility of the customer 20% damage. In the event of physical damage, the policy covers up to 40,000,000.00¢ per person or 100,000,000.00¢ per occurrence as determined by a court in the Republic of Costa Rica with a deductible of 20% of the amount granted (this coverage excludes the driver, his family member or any other person residing under the same roof as the driver).

These guarantees are subject to the timely presentation of the documents requested in the rental agreement, as well as compliance with its clauses.

Some existing limitations under LDW or SLC are as follows:

1. Liability in the event of an accident under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.
2. Liability for use of the rental vehicle in violation of the conditions stipulated in the rental agreement.
3. Liability for material or material damage caused by any insured or relative of the insured residing at the same address.
4. Liability for exploitation of any other driver not authorized in the rental agreement.
5. LDW and SLC do not apply:

- If the customer does not pay the rental fee.

-If the customer or another authorised driver does not comply with the terms of the rental agreement.

Important information about full insurance cover:

This insurance releases you from any legal liability. If you are involved in an accident while driving a rental car and damage is caused to third-party property, the third-party insurance will cover up to ¢10,000,000.00 in third-party property damage.
National Car Rental guarantees that all policyholders or all insured persons will be covered under this insurance policy.

This insurance policy covers up to ¢40 million PER PERSON and up to ¢100 million PER ACCIDENT involving the rental vehicle. This policy covers ‘all amounts for which the insured, or other parties covered by this policy, are held liable by final judgment, in connection with such accident and the personal or property damage caused thereby’. This cover excludes the driver and any family member thereof, any person living in the driver's household, or any family member of the latter.

According to this insurance policy, the hirer is liable for 20% of all damages, which under no circumstances will be less than USD 250.

This cover becomes mandatory when the LDW is refused.

The cover does not apply in case of negligence.

If you book a package which includes flights, your contract will be with Voyage Privé. The air holiday package(s) shown are ATOL protected by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is 10170.

If you book a package which does not include flights, then ATOL protection does not apply. Your contract will be with the provider of the accommodation and not Voyage Privé. Voyage Privé acts only as agent for the accommodation provider.
