Your Itinerary —
Day 1: Arrive in Siem Reap
Touch down in Siem Reap to a warm welcome from your driver and guide. Transfer to your first hotel for check-in (room is available from 2pm.)
Relax into your trip with a 60 minute massage in a local salon, and pass the evening as you please, exploring the lively pubs and shops of Angkor night market. Night in Siem Reap.
DAY 2: SIEM REAP - BANTEAY SREI - BANTEAY SAMRE - TA PRHOM
Your guide will collect you for a day exploring the iconic Angkor complex. Banteay Srei translates as 'the citadel of women', and boasts excellent examples of decorative carving. Banteay Srame, a 12th-century Hindu temple, has pretty rose-coloured walls and is often compared to Angkor Wat.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, and continue your tour to mystical Ta Prohm, an ancient temple reclaimed by nature and wrapped in the roots of huge trees and gigantic vines. Continue your trip with visits to Prasat Kravan, Banteay Kdei, Srah Srang, and end the day at Pre Rup, to watch a beautiful sunset. Return to the hotel. Night in Siem Reap.
Day 3: Siem Reap - Angkor Wat
Spend the morning with your guide, discovering the world-famous Angkor complex. Head out on a tuktuk and drive through lush jungle, passing local villages and shops.
Explore some of the most beautiful temples in Angkor, and visit the western entrance of Angkor Thom, the ancient 12th-century capital. See the southern entrance, unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces, the Royal Enclosure, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and, in the afternoon, visit the famous temple of Angkor Wat, a World Heritage Site since 1992 and the perfect spot to watch the sunset. Night in Siem Reap.
DAY 4: SIEM REAP - TONLE SAP
Visit Tonlé Sap Lake, where 3000 villagers live on the water close to the submerged mangrove forest. Located 18 kilometres from downtown Siem Reap, Kampong Phluk is one of the most impressive and unspoiled permanent settlements on Tonle Sap Lake. Board a local boat and take a relaxing cruise, glimpsing village life as your boat glides between the mangroves, stilt houses, and the floating school.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, learn of Cambodia's more recent history under Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge government, which ruled from 1975 to 1979. As part of the exploration of the Angkor complex, you will be transferred to Wat Thmey, a commemoration of the victims who died during this troubled time. The tour will highlight the Cambodian people's struggle and their immense courage to carry on and rebuild their nation.
Meet and talk with a local Khmer villager to get an insight into surviving and overcoming life before and after the Pol Pot regime. Your guide will facilitate discussions with him, allowing you to understand a struggle for survival, peace and happiness. Night in Siem Reap.
Please note: the boat trip on Tonle Sap is not recommended during the dry season (February to August) due to the lack of water for navigation. During this period, this tour can be replaced by a Siem Reap countryside tour: visit a traditional handicraft village and participate in a home cooking demonstration. Explore the beauty of the surrounding rice fields, and join in the slow-paced local life. Stroll through a peaceful village, passing lush rice fields, orchards and fields of flowers.
Day 5: Siem Reap - Battambang
Leave Siem Reap for a scenic 3.5-hour drive to Battambang, a peaceful provincial town in northwestern Cambodia. There are many French-style villas, beautiful Khmer temples and pagodas, and idyllic country villages. Stop in the Puok district to visit the National Silk Centre and discover both silk creation and the traditional methods of harvesting mulberry trees.
Stop for lunch in a local restaurant and, in the afternoon, visit the Phare Ponleu Selpak Circus School, an NGO based in Battambang and founded in 1994 to provide underprivileged Cambodian youth with artistic education. Walk around the colonial city of Battambang and discover the historical buildings, the arcades, and the Sangké River. Night in Battambang.
DAY 6: BATTAMBANG
This morning visit the 11th-century Wat Ek Phnom temple. Pass through charming villages and drive to the Phnom Banan area, where local farmers grow various tropical fruits and fresh vegetables. Climb the 358 steps to reach the 12th-century Prasat Banan temple, and enjoy peaceful panoramic views of the fertile plains dotted with sugar palms, rice fields and small villages.
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before hopping on one of the most unique train rides in the world, the Battambang Bamboo Train. Built by local villagers to transport goods and people, this basic bamboo platform is powered by a small engine. Night in Battambang.
DAY 7: BATTAMBANG - PHNOM PENH
Depart Battambang early in the morning for a drive to Kampong Chhnang, rich in beautiful scenery, sugar palm trees and floating villages on the Tonlé Sap. Visit the pottery village in Kampong Chhnang.

It is home to impressive Khmer architecture that reflects Cambodia's glory days. Finally, arrive in downtown Phnom Penh. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
DAY 8: PHNOM PENH
Once known as the "Pearl of Asia", Phnom Penh was one of the most beautiful cities in the region. Start your day with a visit to the Royal Palace, a complex of splendid royal buildings with classical Khmer roofs, ornate gilding and an intricate layout of defensive walls.
Next, head to the nearby Silver Pagoda, home to many national treasures and numerous gold and jewelled Buddha statues.
Take time to learn more about the turbulent years of the Khmer Rouge with a visit to Tuol Sleng, a high school turned interrogation prison, known as S-21 during the Khmer Rouge era and now a genocide museum dedicated to presenting the sad story of the thousands of innocent Cambodians who were tortured within its walls.

Your Destinations —
Siem Reap
A bustling resort town in northwestern Cambodia, Siem Reap has been beckoning travellers for decades, in part thanks to its proximity to breathtaking Angkor, once the capital city of the Khmer Empire. However, crowds are still drawn to the city centre, which boasts a mix of French colonial and Chinese architecture, as well as lively restaurants, popular backpacking hotels, and local markets.
No trip to the city would be complete without exploring the ruins of Angkor, a historic city that thrived between the 9th and 15th centuries. Now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, visitors can wander among the decorative sandstone buildings, which number over one thousand! The most famous of all sights at Angkor is Angkor Wat, an immense temple and the largest religious monument in the world. If you can, catch a sunrise or sunset at the temple, before returning to Siem Reap to explore its street food scene - make sure to try the classic sour fish soup, and brace yourself for a sip of the traditional rice wine!
