Day 4: Siem Reap - Kompong Kleang - Sambor Preikuk - Kompong Thom
- Set off this morning for Kampong Thom, one of the 5 provinces bordering the gigantic Tonle Sap Lake. Located around 60 kilometres from Siem Reap town centre, Kampong Kleang is home to more than 20,000 people, many of whom have lived there for generations.
- Embark on a memorable cruise to discover the community that lives on the water. Admire the stunning views and colours of the floating houses and mangroves.
- On arrival in Kampong Thom, traverse local villages before arriving at the archaeological site of Sambor Prei Kuk - the ancient pre-Angkorian capital, where you'll discover majestic 7th-century temples.

Day 5: Kampong Thom - Chhloung
- Departure for Chhloung through the verdant landscapes of the Cambodian countryside. Situated on the eastern bank of the Mekong, Chhloung is a former small French colonial town with picturesque and romantic landscapes, covered with lush green rice paddies and dotted with local villages that retain the beauty of Khmer tradition.
- Arrival late morning in Chhloung leaves your afternoon free to explore the town by bicycle. Discover its market, colonial houses and pagodas or enjoy the hotel swimming pool.
Dag 7: Chhlong – Phnom Penh
- Depart for Phnom Penh, stopping en route at a rubber plantation.
- En route, stop at Kampong Cham. Stroll through the colonial quarter and local market.

- Start the day with a transfer to Banteay Srei "The citadel of women", the only major temple not built by a monarch. Originally built in the 10th century and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, this red sandstone temple is one of the most important structures in Angkor, recognisable by its walls are decorated with elaborate carvings that have been remarkably well preserved.
- In the afternoon, you'll drive to the jungle temple of Beng Mealea, a Hindu temple also featuring some carvings depicting Buddhist motifs. The temple is largely unrestored, with trees and vegetation growing through its towers and courtyards, and many of its stones lying in large heaps, giving it an enchanting atmosphere. Away from the usual tourist routes, this remote temple offers a fascinating opportunity to experience a ruined Angkor temple surrounded by dense jungle, allowing you to stay away from the crowds.

Discover Cambodia's capital on a full-day trip that takes in the Royal Palace, the Tuol Sleng memorial and Wat Phnom temple.
Itinerary:
- Start your day with a visit to the Royal Palace, originally built in 1866 by the grandfather of the current King of Cambodia.
- The palace is a complex of splendid royal buildings with classical Khmer roofs, ornate gilding and the intricate layout of its defensive walls, presenting a great mix of Khmer architecture and a slight French touch. It includes the official residence of the royal family and parts of the huge palace enclosure, which are partially open to the public. Head to the nearby Silver Pagoda, home to many national treasures, including numerous gold and jewelled Buddha statues.
- Perched on the grounds of the royal palace, it is the country's most sacred temple. Take time to learn more about the turbulent years of the Khmer Rouge with a visit to Tuol Sleng, a high school that became an interrogation prison known as S-21 during the Khmer Rouge era.
- Visit the museum, passing through the buildings' narrow corridors and former classrooms to get a glimpse of Cambodia's turbulent past.
- Continue to the hillside temple of Wat Phnom, which gave its name to the Cambodian capital. The temple was originally built to preserve four Buddha statues that had been discovered in the heart of the Mekong River.
- Visit the temple surrounded by huge trees and mischievous monkeys as you listen to the legend of Madame Penh, the city's founder.
- Be sure to stroll out onto the quay for a good view of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers.
