Your destinations —
Must-sees:
Great Barrier Reef: A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest coral reef system, this underwater paradise is a haven for snorkelers and divers, boasting vibrant marine life and crystal-clear waters.
Sydney Opera House: One of the world’s most iconic buildings, this architectural marvel sits at the edge of Sydney Harbour, offering cultural performances and stunning views.
Blue Mountains National Park: Located just outside Sydney, this UNESCO-listed park offers stunning escarpments, waterfalls, and hiking trails, with the famous Three Sisters rock formation being a highlight.
Culinary culture:
Australian cuisine reflects its multicultural society and abundant natural resources. You’ll find a wide variety of dishes that blend British influences with Asian, Mediterranean, and Indigenous flavors. Meat lovers will enjoy hearty barbecues, particularly "Aussie" lamb, while seafood enthusiasts can savor fresh oysters, barramundi, and prawns. For dessert, try a pavlova, a meringue-based treat topped with fresh fruit, or the iconic Tim Tam biscuit. Don't miss out on exploring the coffee culture while you're there - Australia is renowned for its café scene, especially the flat white, a smooth espresso drink topped with velvety steamed milk
Dive deeper:
Beyond the well-known hotspots, Australia is home to hundreds of hidden gems. Tasmania, with its pristine wilderness, offers secluded hiking trails and a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Kangaroo Island, accessible by ferry from Adelaide, is rich in native flora and fauna, with seals, koalas, and kangaroos roaming freely. Explore the art and culture of Melbourne's laneways, filled with street art, coffee shops, and unique boutiques. For an off-the-beaten-path experience, head to the Kimberley region in Western Australia, with its rugged coastline and ancient rock art.
Good to know:
The official currency is the Australian Dollar (AUD). The country’s size means the best time to visit can vary by region - summer (December to February) is ideal for coastal areas, while winter (June to August) is perfect for exploring the northern parts like Queensland. Public transportation is reliable in cities, and renting a car is recommended for exploring the vast outback and coastal regions. Australia’s vast distances mean that internal flights are often the best way to cover large areas, and don’t forget sunscreen - it’s sunny year-round.
