Colourful temples, bustling markets, idyllic islands, challenging golf courses - whatever it is you're after, there is a good chance you will find it in this beautiful corner of Thailand.

Chong Fah Waterfall (11km) - A five-tier waterfall in Lumru National Park.
Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park (11km) - Set in the shore area near the sea covering the rock beach ecological system.
Similan National Park (21km) - One of the most famous diving sites in Thailand.
Evening Market at Ban Niang - Outdoor market sells food and clothes Wednesday and Saturdays.
Khao Lak Elephant Camp (8.9km) - Enjoy elephant trekking, shows and rides.
Sairung Waterfall (10km) - Has a strong current that cascades from a huge high cliff.
Wat Khrom Me Nee Ya Khet - One of Thailand's famous Buddhist temples.
Takuapa and Old Town - Sino-Portuguese architecture with a typical local market, best in the early mornings.
Cheow Lan Lake and Rachaphrapha Dam - Superb views over the lake to the limestone ridges. Boat trips available.

Stilt houses, peaked roofs and natural timbers characterise traditional Thai architecture, which influences the layout of the 5-star JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa. Spread throughout the property between botanical gardens and the pool are spacious and luxuriously outfitted guestrooms.
Khao Lak beach is one of the longest, safest beaches in Thailand. There are numerous restaurants and cafes along the length of the beach which come to life at night time – you can dine right on the beach feasting on fresh fish and seafood. The hotel is in a really peaceful location and is approximately 5 minutes drive to Khao Lak town.
The best bit for me, though, was the very private hidey-holes complete with loungers, cleverly sheltered with hedges, but still with easy access to the water. Paradise found.
