Apart from pure beaches and sea, Khao Lak is located closely to Thap Lamu Port where divers and excursion boats depart for Similan Islands; one of 10 most beautiful diving site in the world. Khao Lak is the nearest land point to the small archipelago, counted among the 10 most interesting dive sites in the world, well known for the world class reefs and crystal clear waters surrounding the islands.
Khao Lak has been known as a very close to nature vacation refuge for some time. The calm and natural atmosphere makes a pleasing contrast to many other travel destinations in Thailand, such as Phuket, or Koh Samui.
The diversity of the flora and fauna in the area is immense and is yet to be fully studied. Per hectare you have 200 different floral species including the worlds largest flower Rafelesia which can grow flowers one metre in diameter. There is also a species of Bamboo which is one of the largest in South East Asia. There are many orchids, ferns and palms, including the extremely rare White Back Fan Palm.
The variety of insects is huge. Wild Elephant, a small number of Tiger, Bear, Monkeys, Gibbons, Porcupine, Pangolin, Deer and the rare Mountain Serow live in the park. Several species of bird inhabit the park including the Hornbill and reptiles are in abundance. These animals however are not easily seen due to their shy nature combined with the extremely thick rainforest vegetation.
The main reason to visit Elephant Hills is to appreciate the world class nature and scenery of the area. You will be stunned by the natural beauty of the area, and combined with the sound of gibbons calling in the morning, will make it an experience you will never forget.
Exhilarating, colourful and fun, Bangkok is a city that leaves you wanting more. Discover a city of sparkling palaces and gleaming temples where visitors rub shoulders with saffron-robed monks. Hold onto your hat as you sweep along the river in a long-tailed boat admiring riverside architecture and observing everyday life for families living in stilt houses.
Hunt for bargains in the street markets where the vendors are disappointed if you won't enter into some friendly haggling over price. Escape the noise and heat of the streets by browsing the designer shops in the dazzling, air-conditioned shopping malls.
In the late afternoon meander through the open space of Lumphini Park and watch the locals at play and then get a good view of the city, as the sun goes down, from high up in one of the many rooftop bars. Finally board a converted rice barge for a delicious Thai dinner cruise.

In the morning, you will awake to the different noises of the forest; the jungle wakes up whilst the hills surrounding the camp are still covered in mist.
