Your Itinerary —
Day 1: Arrive in Riyadh
Touchdown in Riyadh, where a guide will be waiting for you holding a sign with 88Destinations on it. They will take you to your hotel.
Riyadh is known as the birthplace of modern Saudi Arabia, where old-world charm meets 21st-century vision. It’s a city rich in history, boasting forts, palaces and museums, and some of the country’s most colorful souks.
DAY 2: RIYADH
Enjoy an informative city tour , stopping first in the Al Turaif quarter, a carefully restored mud-brick district that was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. Please note that this site is closed for development and the visit will be from the outside. Visit the National Museum, and the King Abdulaziz Historical Center, home to many artefacts from across the centuries.
After lunch, continue to the Al Masmak Fortress, a squat fortification built around 1865 and the site of a daring 1902 raid during which a spear was hurled at the main entrance door with such force that the head is still lodged in the doorway!
Continue to Souq Al-Zal, one of the oldest traditional markets. Discover traditional dress, antiques, Oud (Arabic perfume) and jewellery. The final stop will be at the grand Kingdom Tower, a 99-story, 302.3 m skyscraper, now the fifth-tallest building in the country.
Day 3 : Riyadh - AlUla
Domestic flight to AlUla.
AlUla is one of the oldest cities in the Arabian Peninsula and home to Hegra, Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon, head to Elephant Rock, a natural marvel shaped by millions of years of wind and water erosion. The beauty of the unique structure is enhanced by its surroundings of a fine-sand sea studded with rocky outcrops, many of which are equally impressive in size and have interesting shapes and figures
DAY 4: AlUla
Start the day with a hike along the beautiful AlUla Oasis Trail, stretching 3 kilometres from the Orange Path to the Dadan Visitor Centre. This pretty trail is free and open to visitors day and night, with multiple entry and exit points. Enjoy a long, leisurely stroll or a short walk between tall palms and lush green farms.
Next, visit the breathtaking AlUla Valley, where great rock formations create very narrow canyons to walk between. There are even remnants of old Thamudic inscriptions!
Continue with a visit to Hegra, also known as Madain Saleh. The importance of this site is visible in its 111 monumental tombs, among which 94 are decorated with majestic facades on the sandstone massifs of the area. Madain Saleh was the second largest city of the Nabatean kingdom, and the capital was Petra, now located in today's Jordan.
In the evening, take a trip to the breathtaking Harra viewpoint. Scale the black lava stone terrain of Harrat Uwayrid, and be rewarded with views over Dadan, Ula oldtown, AlUla Fort and the AlUla Oasis. Stay for sunset and watch the sky slowly fill with thousands of shining stars. Please note: Harra is reachable by SUV car only.
Day 5: AlUla - Madinah - Jeddah
After breakfast, drive to Madinah for an interesting city tour, giving you a general overview of how the city was built and shaped over 1400 years. Pause for a lunch break with a view over the mosques, and end the tour in Qiba Street, which connects two great Mosques that have significant importance in Islamic history. The grand Mosque was the house where the prophet Mohammed lived, and the Qiba Mosque was the first Mosque ever built. Next, take the train to Jeddah.
DAY 6: JEDDAH
Start your tour in the morning with a visit to The Tayebat Museum, a multiroom complex that recreates the traditional Hijazi architecture of the old city, with bay windows overlaid with intricate wooden lattice work and ornate coral masonry. With several floors of in-depth exhibits, the museum offers a living history lesson on the foundation of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and the wider Arabian Peninsula.
Enjoy lunch in one of the local restaurants before visiting several Jeddah landmarks such as the world's tallest flag pole, the world's tallest fountain, the open air museum, and the sleek new Jeddah waterfront.
Continue the tour with a visit to Al Balad, the historic part of Jeddah. Learn the historical importance of these sites and locations as you wander the narrow streets, sampling the food and snacks of Al Balad such as 'Sobia', beans and pickles, tea with milk and herbs, and fresh bread from a local bakery.
DAY 7: DEPARTURE
End your Saudi Arabian tour and reutrn to the airport, ready for your flight home.
