DAY 1 ǀ KUALA LUMPUR
Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, you will be met at the arrival hall by your private driver before making your way to your hotel.
Overnight in Kuala Lumpur.
After an early breakfast, start out on your two-hour journey on a day trip to discover Melaka, one of the most historic of Malaysian cities.
Melaka was founded by a Hindu prince in the 14th century but its strategic location on the Strait of Melaka, which was a vital route in the medieval spice trade, made it an attractive prize for European colonists. From 1511 to 1957, it was ruled first by the Portuguese, then the Dutch and finally the British, each leaving a legacy that can still be spotted today, from the ruins of A Famosa Fort to Queen Victoria’s Fountain. The result is a fascinating multi-cultural city that will captivate your heart.
On this excursion, you will visit the top attractions in Melaka. Head to the Dutch-era St John’s Fort for a panoramic view of the city - on a clear day, you can see Indonesia on the other side of the strait. Discover Bandar Hilir, the city’s oldest area, and climb St Paul’s Hill, where the ruins of St Paul’s Church stand, before continuing to the Porta de Santiago, which is all that remains of the Portuguese-built A Famosa. Visit the ‘antiques row’ of the always colourful Jonker Street, where shops and stalls will tempt you with their historic and folkloric wares. Complete the tour with stops at Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, the Tranquerah Mosque - which unusually has a pagoda instead of a minaret - the three-century-old St Peter’s Church and the haunting Bukit Cina, where Chinese burial sites are scattered on a barren hill. Return to Kuala Lumpur in the evening.
Overnight in Kuala Lumpur.
After breakfast, head around Kuala Lumpur - with a visit to Merdeka Square (Independence Square), national mosque and the New Royal Palace (photo stop). Visit the National Museum and later take a stroll around the beautiful lake Gardens located in the vicinity of the National Monument.
The National Monument was built to commemorate those who died in Malaysia’s struggle for independence and during the Japanese occupation of World War II as well as the troubled times that followed the war, known locally as the Emergency. Evening at leisure to check out the pulsating city of Kuala Lumpur.
Overnight in Kuala Lumpur.
On this day you will visit the famous Cameron Highlands, which is 1,542 meters above sea level and world-renowned for its tea!

Overnight in Cameron Highlands.
DAY 5 | CAMERON HIGHLANDS
After breakfast, set out for a visit to the tea plantation and tea factory. Then visit a butterfly farm, vegetable farm, strawberry farm, rose garden and finally enjoy a walk in the market square. DAY 6 | CAMERON HIGHLANDS – KUALA KANGSAR - TAIPING (approx. travel time: 171 km / 4 hours)
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and depart for Kuala Kangsar, driving along a scenic route via Simpang Pulai. Upon arrival at KualaKangsar, the royal town of the state of Perak, visit the Sultan Azlan Shah Gallery, which was built and conserved from the ancient castle called Istana Ulu or Istana Kota.
It was built in the year 1898 and was completed in 1903. The former palace, which was first occupied by Sultan Idris 1 in 1903, was restored in 2003 and named after the present Sultan whose personal belongings, documents, mementoes, family photographs, trophies and state regalia, among others, are on display for public viewing. Be amazed by the unique and beautiful items on display.
Next, head to a leafy and exclusive area south-west of the city centre, where a number of historic, cultural and religious attractions are located. Visit the golden-domed Ubudiah Mosque, probably the finest mosque in Malaysia, and IstanaIskandariah and Istana Kenangan, two very different but equally beautiful royal palaces - Stopping for lunch on the way.
Continue on to visit the Perak Museum, the oldest museum in Peninsular Malaysia. It was founded in 1883 by Sir Hugh Low, the fourth British Resident of Perak (1877 to 1889). Next is a visit to the Taiping War Cemetery which is the final resting place for Allied personnel who were killed during World War II. There are more than 850 World War II casualties commemorated here, including more than 500 who remain unidentified.
You will end the tour with a walk around the beautiful Taiping LakeGardens which was the first public garden established during the British rule in Malaysia. Check in to your hotel and take advantage of an evening of leisure.

On this day you will see Kuala Sepetang. After breakfast, visit a charcoal factory and see for yourself how charcoal is produced. The factory has a reputation for producing the best charcoal in Asia and has great demand from the large Japanese market. Every process will be explained in detail and is extremely interesting as well as educational. Continue your journey up north to Bukit Merah. Upon arrival, take a boat to Orangutan Island.
As you alight onto the jetty, keep a lookout, as you may spot an orangutan or two, swinging from tree to tree, maybe even taking a nap. Your steps on the boardwalk take you through a classroom of education in the life of an orangutan, where you learn amazing facts about this intelligent primate. A walk through the semi-circle steel-fence tunnel enclosure is a humbling experience, where we humans, seemingly in a cage, can peer out and be captivated by the orangutans roaming free beyond in the trees, on the grass, by the bushes, by the lake, just about anywhere!
Continue on to Penang. Check in to the hotel where you will be staying for the next three nights. This is a place that is renowned for street food and you will be truly spoiled for choice as you meander your way around town.

Combine three distinct and ancient cultures, indigenous and colonial architecture, shake for a few centuries, and garnish with some of the best food in Southeast Asia, and you've got the irresistible urban cocktail that is George Town. On 7 July 2008, Melaka and George Town were fêted as Malaysia's newest UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This is the first time that cultural sites in Malaysia have been inscribed into Unesco's prestigious World Heritage Listing.
After breakfast, enjoy an orientation tour of George Town, starting with a visit to the Thai Buddhist temple, which houses a 33-metre-long reclining Buddha. Just across the road is the Burmese Buddhist temple. Down by the bustling waterfront is the ‘homes on stilts’ of Chew Jetty, which form a water village dating back to the early Chinese immigrants. Walk along the Street of Harmony, which is bordered by religious landmarks such as Kapitan Keling Mosque, the Hindu Sri Mahamariaman Temple, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy Temple and the pristine neo-classical St George’s Church. Along the way, check out ‘Little India’,a colourful area in the heart of the old town, where you will find many specialised Indian stores and diners. Indulge in specialities such as spices, Indian music, garlands, trinkets and gold jewellery. Visit the Khoo Kongsi Clan House, one of the most distinctive Chinese clan association in Malaysia. It is well known worldwide for its extensive lineage that can be traced back to 650 years ago. Afternoon at leisure.
Overnight in Penang.
DAY 9 ǀ PENANG
Penang or “Pulau Pinang” which means "Island of Betelnut Palms" - was once a pirates' hideout. It came under British control in 1786. History has it that Captain Francis Light loaded the cannons with silver coins and fired into the thick undergrowth and the locals scrambled to recover them - thus clearing the area for settlement. Born as a crossroads for traders from Arabto Europe, India to China and nearby islanders, Penang is today a mini Asia in a nutshell! The island still retains its natural charm with quiet sunkissed beaches along the famed Batu Ferringhi strip.
After a hearty breakfast, set out to explore the other side of Penang island! Drive up the coast road of Batu Ferringhi till you reach the award-winning, Tropical Spice Garden. Explore over 500 varieties of tropical flora specially selected from all over the world. Divided into 3 designated trails, Spice Trail, Ornamental Trail and Jungle Trail landscaped on natural jungle terrain, each trail offers sufficient interest for a 20-45 minute walk. Then drive through the hills where one will enjoy the lush greenery of a tropical rainforest dotted with fruit orchards and spices.
Take a breather at a street stall and be introduced to the many varieties of fruits and spices produced by local farmers. Drive to a valley where there are clusters of traditional Malay villages and paddy fields, taking you back to basics with a sense of tranquillity. Proceed to the centuries-old Snake Temple and learn about its intriguing history. Evening at leisure.
