Bali is a melting pot of culture, beauty and excitement, which combines to create one of the worlds’ greatest holiday destinations.
Bali's natural environment is diverse in the extreme, bringing together picturesque stepped rice paddies, rearing volcanoes, highland lakes and both black and white sand beaches where you can find both thundering surf and tranquil lagoons.
The culture is just as richly varied – a hybrid mix of Hinduism and indigenous beliefs, resulting in a staggering number of temples on the island - no wonder it is called "The island of the Gods"
There is a wide choice of amazing sites on the island of Bali just waiting to be experienced:
Known as the cultural pulse of Bali, Ubud is a charming village with a rich artistic heritage. It is a popular spot that attracts visitors interested in traditional dance, music and local craftsmanship. Ubud is blessed with a natural landscape encompassing tropical hinterland and verdant rice terraces. It is an environment that lends itself to outdoor activities such as cycling, rice terrace trekking and white water rafting.
Located some 1,500 metres above sea level on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, Jatiluwih is a World Heritage Site that is famous for its stunning rice terraces. It is an area that remains untouched by the hands of time and produces some of the finest rice in Indonesia.
Elevated high above the Indian Ocean on a limestone cliff on Bali's southern tip, Uluwatu is an ancient temple compound offering breathtaking views especially at sunset. It is a sacred site for followers of the Hindu faith and home to a clan of cheeky monkeys.
The Barong Dance is a traditional performance that retells the universal tale of the struggle of good versus evil. The barong is a mythical creature that uses magical powers to defeat a wicked witch and restore harmony. The dance is performed daily in the village of Batubulan.
Perched on a small islet just off the coast of Tabanan, Tanah Lot is a sea temple that pays homage to the sheer beauty of the surrounding environment. The temple dates back to the 16th century and is protected by sea snakes and pounding waves.
