Your Destinations —
Once a settlement with a small meandering creek, Dubai has undergone dramatic change and is now the world's fastest-growing global city with a vibrancy and a majesty all of its own.
You’ll find all kinds of wonderful modern attractions here, including, at 2,722 feet, the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, plus cutting-edge bars and nightclubs, a hotel complex in the shape of a giant palm tree, and unparalleled shopping opportunities. Temperatures are a balmy 75 degrees here, even in Winter.
This stunning city state is home to cultural and colonial icons that will transport you back in time, yet Singapore boasts glittering sky scrapers, extreme cleanliness and safety for visitors. Singapore is a leading example that people from all walks of life both East and West can live and work harmoniously together, with a delightful infusion of Chinese, Malay, Indian and European influences. Singapore remains South East Asia's leading economy for business, finance, technology and stability since independence from both the British empire and Malaya in 1965.
Malaysia has a lot to offer. Mysterious caves, mist-shrouded mountains, tropical rainforests and a city, Kuala Lumpur, that lives up to its reputation as a global must-see destination. In Kuala Lumpur, check out the Petronas Twin Towers, with a height of over 450 metres, was until 2003, the world’s tallest building. Go island hopping on some of the 99 islands that surround Langkawi, visit a bat cave and a Mangrove Forest. Spend a day at the Mid Valley Megamall, Asia’s largest retail, food and entertainment centre and sample the delights of Penang cuisine on Gurney Drive, a popular seafront promenade on the island’s capital Georgetown.
China’s sights are as rich as they are varied. Pass paddy fields with water buffalo and see indigenous people perform the original bamboo dance. Hit speeds of up to 200mph on the Maglev train. Visit cultural attractions such as the Great Wall of China, Shanghai’s Jade Buddha Temple, the Chi Lin Nunnery on Kowloon and Macau’s Baroque churches. Explore China’s cosmopolitan cities of Shanghai and Hong Kong where architectural attractions include glistening glass high-rises (with features such as central cut-outs) that share the locality with ancient temples and ramshackle homes. And sample some of the best Chinese cuisine in the world during your Far East cruise.
Your Ship —
Relax in Mariner of the Seas sauna and streamroom, or dance the night away in the nightclub. From ice-skating and in-line skating to golf and fantastic theatre shows - you'll be spoilt for choice. Other sports you may like to try aboard Mariner of the Seas include rock climbing, football, basketball and volleyball.
At dusk, watch the sun set the sea ablaze with a cocktail from one of the many bars, before a romantic, gourmet meal Portofino’s Italian restaurant. Finish the perfect day with an evening in the Casino Royale, where you can try your luck with games ranging from Blackjack to Roulette.
You could spend your days staying fit, playing games or just lazing in the sun – whatever you do, it’s good to head back to an airy, comforting and relaxing room. The staterooms range from lavishly appointed two-storey suites with private balcony, to compact rooms to suit any budget – and we’ve given them all the same attention to detail.
For romance and fine dining, book a table at the Italian Portofino or Chops Grille (which features a menu of Filet Mignon and mesquite-grilled salmon among others).
For something more casual you can choose between the 1950s-style diner Johnny Rockets and a range of snacks and light meals in Café Promenade, including sandwiches and pizzas and a great buffet selection at the Windjammer Café. And don’t forget to treat yourself at the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream parlour.
