Prague —
A strong contender for the title of Europe’s most beautiful city, Prague "the City of a Thousand Spires", is as charming as it is picturesque. Filled with gold-tipped towers, cathedrals, bridges, and church domes, it was once the home of the Holy Roman Emperor and the Habsburg monarchy. Walking its cobbled streets, it’s easy to feel transported back to its royal roots.
Take a wander through Prague’s magnificent Old Town - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - stopping to see the city’s famed astronomical clock, ninth-century castle, and the grand Charles Bridge, complete with its 16 arches and 30 Baroque statues.
Those eager to explore Prague's cultural past can head to the Strahov Library, which is housed inside a twelfth-century abbey, and is often named one of the most beautiful in the world. On the eastern side of the Vltava river, you’ll find U Medvídků, one of the largest beer halls in Prague, and the historic Jewish quarter (Josefov). While wandering the city streets, make sure to pick up some authentic Czech biscuits from one of the many bakeries, or a freshly-made chimney cake - a real Central European delicacy.
