Your Itinerary —
Arrival in Vientiane and welcome by your guide. Then, transfer and installation to the hotel.
At the end of the day, go to the reception of the hotel. Then, walk to the Mekong to get a glimpse of its nightlife, with dance halls, markets and gym at sunset. Then, back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Vientiane - Nam Ngum - (about 155.8 km of road and 3h30 off stops)
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, discover the city and its monuments. Then, visit the city, on the way you will have the opportunity to visit:
- The Patuxai, the Arc de Triomphe Laotian which dominates the local Champs Elysées. You can climb all the way up, to have a beautiful panoramic view of the city.
- Vat Sisaket, with Siamese influence, which presents a unique architecture of its kind. Spared during the destruction of the city by the Siams, it is the most beautiful and the largest temple in Vientiane.
Lunch at a local restaurant. Before leaving Vientiane, you will stop at Pha That Louang, the national symbol. Representing both the Buddhist religion and Lao sovereignty; this great reliquary is a masterpiece of Laotian architecture. Arrival on the banks of Lake Nam Ngum and visit the fishing village located on the roadside. Then install at the Resort. Aperitif at the lake to enjoy the sunset. Then dinner and night at the Resort.
Breakfast at the Resort. Then, drive to Vang Vieng. You will loop through the karst landscapes of Vang Vieng to the rice terraces before reaching Tham Thiang cave, located in a karst cliff, at the end of a 150-step staircase. Then, you will board a pirogue for a walk on the Nam Song River to discover the river banks of Van Vieng. Then you take the direction Luang Prabang.
Lunch on the banks of the river. You will take a nice mountain road. Along the way, you can stop in small villages trading in medicinal plants, and Lao medicines. Arrival in Luang Prabang at the end of the day and check in at the hotel. Sindat dinner, Laotian BBQ speciality. Night at the hotel.
Day 4: Luang Prabang
Breakfast at the hotel. In the early morning, explore the city with a traditional mode of transport: the Tuk Tuk. See the former royal capital, classified World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, you will discover the many splendours that hide in this small city.
You will have the opportunity to visit:
- the Royal Palace, now National Museum
- the Vat May, an eighteenth-century temple, topped with a five-sided roof and three parasols
- the Vat Xieng Thong, the Temple of the Royal City, the most beautiful of the city, a vast set of sacred buildings is one of the jewels of the Lao art. Lunch during the visit.
Afternoon and free evening to enjoy the city at your own pace. Night in the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, visit the Ock Pop Tok centre to observe traditional weaving techniques from different ethnic groups still preserved in Laos. It is also a place that supports the work of women, to promote the local economy. You will take a beautiful country road (about 40 minutes) between villages and rice fields to go to the waterfall Khouang Sy. A series of basins more or less important in the middle of nature. You can stroll along the waterfall and even swim there.
Or observe collared bears housed in large enclosures. Lunch at the restaurant located below the site, away from the crowd. This restaurant offers fusion cuisine full of flavour in a dream setting ... Day 06: Luang Prabang / Pak Or / Luang Prabang
Departure for Morning Market - Discovery of local products. Then you will be driven to one of the piers of Luang Prabang. Installation aboard a privatized slow boat and up the Mekong to the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong to visit the caves of Pak Ou, sanctuary sheltering for centuries hundreds of statuettes of Buddha filed by the pilgrims. Then, resumed navigation and descent of the Mekong to Luang Prabang. Lunch at the restaurant opposite Pak Ou. Then return by boat to Luang Prabang.
Then continue to TAEC "Traditional Art and Ethnology Center", a small museum exhibiting costumes and traditional costumes of the different ethnic groups of the country. End of free day.
Breakfast at the hotel. Free time. Then, transfer to Luang Prabang airport for a flight to Siem Reap. Assistance with formalities. Air transfer (without guide) to Siem Reap. Day 8: Siem Reap
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure in tuktuk from your hotel . You start the tours by the most famous of them, Angkor Wat, where king Suryavarman II, reigned over the Kingdom of Cambodia from 1113 to 1152. Angkor Watis a masterpiece of achievement and architecture whose dimensions are comparable to the Forbidden City of Beijing. You continue to reach the temple of Preah Khan. Walk through the maze of doors and corridors to discover some beautiful high relief and including the only building with round columns that may have been used to house the sacred sword of the king.
Lunch at a local restaurant on the site. In the afternoon, discover the royal city of Angkor Thom. King Jayavarman VII built a laterite rampart forming a 3-kilometre square to protect his city from invaders. After having admired the enigmatic gates of this city, you reach the Bayon, central temple of this fortified city. The mysterious Bayon presents, at first sight, a mess of blackened stones, then it is an entanglement of some fifty turns with faces which are revealed as and when one gets closer.
You continue on foot to enter the enclosure of the royal palace with the temple of Phimeanakas while leaving you to arrive on the Terrace of the Elephants from where the king and his court attended the games and then processions. In the late afternoon, you enter the Ta Prohm, "Brahma ancestor", to enjoy magical moments in this temple that was left, in part, in the state of nature to preserve the memory of visions of the discoverers who revealed Angkor to the West. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel in Siem Reap.
Breakfast at the hotel. You take your bus to reach Tonle Sap Lake . By the dike you cross the areas flooded by the big lake with its houses on stilts, rice paddies and flooded forests before reaching the Kampong Khleang far from the hordes of tourists. Walking tour of the village with its houses perched more than 7 m high. You then embark on a traditional boat and sail to Tonle Sap Lake, where you will see a floating village. Afternoon drive through the countryside to reach the temple of Beng Mealea located 60 km from Angkor. The region was once rich in game and even wild animals: tigers, panthers and elephants, herds of oxen and wild buffaloes. This temple, where Jean-Jacques Annaud's film "Deux frères" was shot, is the Indiana Jones temple par excellence with its chaos of sandstone blocks lying on the ground. The one-storey temple is composed of galleries and intersections in a style very close to that of Angkor Wat. Return to your vehicle and drive to Siem Reap. Dinner with Apsara dance show. Day 10: Siem Reap - Return
