One of the Seven Wonders of the World, visit the magnificent Christ the Redeemer, the iconic statue on top of Corcovado Hill, Rio’s most famous landmark. The Corcovado Hill is part of the Tijuca Forest, the largest urban forest in the world. On the way to its top is the Dona Marta belvedere, from where is possible to see the Maracanã Stadium, the famous Guanabara Bay and the beautiful Sugar Loaf. Once at the top of Corcovado Hill, it is possible to admire breathtaking views of Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Botanical Garden. 

This tour departs the hotel after breakfast to visit the most famous landmarks sites of the city and see the natural beauty of Rio from above. After a scenic drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, guests arrive at the bottom of the Corcovado Hill. They embark on a comfortable train that ascends the mountain and get at the statue of Christ the Redeemer, located 2,300 ft above sea level. Once at the top, they can use the panoramic elevators or escalators to get to the foot of the statute, as well as enjoy a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro. The tour ends in a Brazilian style, with guests enjoying lunch in a local restaurant with high quality meat and delicious side dishes.

Private Sugar Loaf Tour (with barbecue lunch)

Every year, over a million tourists visit the international famous Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf Mountain), an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Its name was given due to the to resemblance to the traditional shape of a refined sugar loaf. The tour starts with a panoramic tour around Rio’s downtown, passing by the Cathedral, Municipal Theater and Cinelandia before heading to the Sugar Loaf Mountain.

The journey to the top is made in glass cable-cars. The first cable-car takes passengers to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 215 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its surrounding islands. At Urca Hill, passengers take the second cable-car to the top of Sugar Loaf, which rises 395 meters above sea level and offers a 360 degree view of the entire city including Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, Corcovado Hill and Rio’s downtown. At the end of the tour, guests have the opportunity to have lunch in a barbecue restaurant.

Rio de Janeiro was Brazil’s capital for almost two centuries, until 1960. Nowadays, while strolling the streets downtown, it is possible to admire many architectural influences from different periods where historical and modern constructions tell together Rio’s history.

The tour starts at Cinelândia square, where they will have a panoramic view of some historical streets in the centre and go to the modern Portuary Zone. Once there, they can visit Museu do Amanhã, a museum focused on ecology and technology, and Museu de Arte do Rio (Rio Art Museum), dedicated to the art and visual culture. Both museums are located at Mauá square, historically important due to the arrival of ships carrying goods in the past. The guests also can visit the Boulevard Olímpico (Olympic Boulevard), created to the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio. At Boulevard, they can see the colourful "Etnias" (Ethnicities), a giant panel painted by the artist Eduardo Kobra which has faces of representatives of 5 ethnicities graffiti.

There has been an increase in reported cases of yellow fever, particularly in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais. Visit the NaTHNaC website for information on yellow fever vaccination recommendations for British travellers. Please note that Rio de Janeiro state authorities recommend that all visitors to the state, including to the island of Ilha Grande, are vaccinated against yellow fever.

UK health authorities have classified Brazil as having a risk of Zika virus transmission. You should follow the advice of the National Travel Health Network and Centre.

Malaria is present in parts of the country

Dengue fever is particularly common during the rainy season (from November to March).

You should take steps to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and for more information and advice, visit the NaTHNaC website.

If vaccinations or other preventive measures are required, you will need to visit your health professional at least 8 weeks before your trip. In the event that you are referred to a medical facility for treatment, you should contact your insurance/medical assistance company immediately.
