Rio De Janeiro
Presided over by the iconic Christ the Redeemer sculpture, Rio de Janeiro is an instantly-recognisable city with heaps of attractions. Its city centre offers a mix of quaint colonial architecture, modern businesses, and a sun-drenched beach, making it the perfect place for a memorable, one-of-a-kind city trip.
The home of Samba and the Caipirinha cocktail, this city has an unmistakable party atmosphere - make the most of this by taking a visit to the Sambadrome, which hosts the official Rio Carnival in the week before Lent, but where you can see the local samba schools rehearsing from December onwards. End your day exploring the city’s bars, sampling not only the iconic cocktail, but a chope, a draught beer characteristically served in tall glasses.
Of course, the unmissable attraction in the city is the magnificent Christ the Redeemer, a beautiful sculpture in the top of Corcovado Hill and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Travellers can opt to take the charming tram to the top of the hill, where you’re greeted by a spectacular view of the city centre, plus Sugarloaf Mountain and Copacabana beach!
