DAY 4: IGUAZU

DAY 5: IGUAZU
Today, you’ll explore the Argentine side of Iguazú Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where over 200 waterfalls await. Begin with a visit to the local museum, then follow the lower trail, offering views of stunning falls such as Salto Dos Hermanas, Salto Bossetti, and Salto Escondido, along with a panoramic glimpse of Isla San Martín and Salto Unión. Next, take the upper trail, walking along elevated boardwalks above the main falls to reach the majestic Salto San Martín, with sweeping views of the Brazilian side. Finally, hop aboard the Jungle Train to Garganta del Diablo station. The Quebrada de las Conchas unfolds before you like a vast, open-air natural museum. Towering rock formations in vibrant reds and oranges, sculpted over millions of years by wind and water, line the route. Every turn reveals a new postcard-perfect landscape: the Garganta del Diablo, with its deep, dramatic walls, the Amphitheatre, with its perfect acoustics and Los Castillos, majestic formations that evoke the ruins of an ancient civilisation.
Once in Cafayate, we recommend visiting one of the city’s renowned vineyards. Wander through the vineyards, discover the art of winemaking, and be sure to taste the region’s signature Torrontés, along with other exquisite local wines.

DAY 8: CAFAYATE → SALTA

DAY 9: SALTA → PARMAMARCA (270 KM - 4 HOURS)
Set off on another road trip along National Route 9 to Purmamarca, passing through the stunning Quebrada de Humahuaca and its sublime Andean landscapes. Cross charming villages inhabited by the Coyas Indians before reaching Purmamarca, a picturesque village dominated by its famous Mountain of Seven Colours. Upon arrival, explore the village, browse the Indian craft market, and take a walk along the "De los Coloraditos" trail. From there, the Paseo de los Colorados trail leads into the surrounding desert landscapes, offering spectacular views of the colourful mountains.
Next, continue to Salinas Grandes, one of northwestern Argentina’s most spectacular and unforgettable sights. From Purmamarca, the route ascends the breathtaking Cuesta de Lipán, a winding mountain pass rising over 4,000 meters above sea level, with panoramic views at every turn. At the summit, the dazzling expanse of the Salinas Grandes unfolds: an immense salt desert stretching across the Altiplano. The brilliant white landscape, its absolute silence, and the surreal atmosphere make it a perfect spot for photography and to discover the traditional salt-harvesting techniques of the local communities.

Day 10: Purmamarca
Today, we recommend a visit to the Quebrada de Humahuaca, declared a UNESCO Cultural and Natural Heritage of Humanity in 2003. Stop in Tilcara, home to the pre-Columbian city built by the Humahuaquenas, the Pucará de Tilcara, and its fascinating archaeological museum. Continue to Humahuaca via the town of Uquía, and don’t miss the Sierra de Hornocal, where the village is overlooked by its striking mineral rainbow. For a full panoramic view of this extraordinary palette, continue 25 km along Route 73, which climbs to 4,200 meters. The Cerro Hornocal formation, composed of folded Yacoraite layers covered with soft sandstone, displays colours ranging from ocher to green, red, and purple, shaped by millions of years of sedimentation. Sparse vegetation punctuates the rugged landscape, contrasting sharply with the lush Rio Grande valley below. Return to Purmamarca via Huacalera, passing the Tropic of Capricorn, and admire the colourful slopes of the Pollera de la Colla hill.

Good to know:
Buenos Aires is well connected, with two main airports: Ezeiza for international arrivals and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery for domestic flights. The best times to visit are spring (September to November) and Fall (March to May), when the weather is mild and the jacaranda trees fill the streets with purple blossoms. The city is vast but easy to navigate by metro, bus or affordable taxis. Walking is the best way to absorb the atmosphere of each neighbourhood, from bohemian San Telmo to elegant Recoleta.
