Your itinerary in detail

Day 1: Arrival in Buenos Aires

Arrive in Buenos Aires, where you will board the MS Roald Amundsen to begin your journey south. Settle into your cabin

All inclusive and overnight onboard the MS Roald Amundsen

DAYS 2 - 4: BUENOS AIRES - FALKLAND ISLANDS

As the days unfurl across open water, your journey transforms into something more than travel - this is where exploration begins. Over the next few days, the expedition team will offer fascinating talks on everything from ocean currents to ancient geology, seabirds to polar explorers. Keep your binoculars close - this is prime territory for spotting wandering albatrosses and elusive petrels gliding just above the waves. When it’s time to relax, soak in the hot tubs, unwind in the sauna with its sweeping views, or recharge in the fitness room.

All inclusive and overnight onboard the MS Roald Amundsen

DAYS 5 - 7: FALKLAND ISLANDS

The Falkland Islands offer a windswept mix of wild beauty and quiet charm - think rolling green hills dotted with wildflowers, white-sand beaches teeming with birdlife, and only a handful of remote farms breaking the horizon. In Stanley, the islands’ small but spirited capital, you’ll explore on a guided tour that takes in the gardens of the Jubilee Villas, the distinctive Christ the King Cathedral, and the history-packed dockyard museum. Weather guides our every step here, and landings or hikes depend on local conditions - but with luck, edge close to lively penguin and albatross colonies, and maybe spot a few seals along the way, all while treading lightly in this rugged, unforgettable corner of the world.

All inclusive and overnight onboard the MS Roald Amundsen

DAYS 8 - 9: FALKLAND ISLANDS - ANTARCTICA

Leaving the Falklands behind, you’ll spend two days crossing open sea toward the awe-inspiring Antarctic Peninsula, with ever-changing skies and ice on the horizon. As the landscape grows wilder, the expedition team will prepare you with engaging talks on Antarctica’s unique wildlife, stark landscapes, polar history, and the science of glaciers and geology. You’ll also learn how to explore this fragile world safely and responsibly. For those wanting more, join citizen science projects and contribute to real research as you approach one of Earth’s last true frontiers.

All inclusive and overnight onboard the MS Roald Amundsen

Days 10 - 15: Antarctica

Antarctica’s sheer scale and icy silence will capture your senses completely as you edge closer - towering icebergs drift like frozen sculptures through silent straits, while gentoo, chinstrap, and Adélie penguins gather along the shore. Over the next five days, we’ll explore a range of possible landing sites across the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, each one offering its own unforgettable experience. Weather and ice conditions will guide our route, but if luck is on our side, sail into a submerged volcanic caldera or step ashore in glacier-ringed bays. For the more adventurous, there’s the chance to kayak past icebergs or snowshoe to breathtaking lookouts. Birdwatchers will want to keep their eyes on the skies for skuas, petrels, and terns in flight. On board and ashore, our experts will deepen your understanding of this extraordinary ecosystem and how we can all play a part in protecting its fragile future.

All inclusive and overnight onboard MS Roald Amundsen

DAYS 16 - 17: ANTARCTICA - USHUAIA

Your Antarctic adventure is winding down, but one last challenge awaits: the Drake Passage. This stretch of ocean is famous for tossing ships about with fierce winds and powerful currents - but sometimes it surprises with calm, glassy seas. Whether you catch the famous “Drake Shake” or glide over a smooth “Drake Lake,” it’s all part of the journey’s final thrill. The MS Roald Amundsen is designed to handle these rough waters, so you can focus on soaking in the experience. During the crossing, the expedition team will keep the spirit alive with stories and reflections, helping you carry the magic of the Falklands and Antarctica with you as you head home.

Your destinations

Antarctica

Antarctica, located at the South Pole, is bordered by the Southern Ocean and remains a little-visited land. Almost everything, 98% of its surface, is covered in ice.

The Inlandsis, the name of the immense glacier that forms the frozen surface of this area, can reach a thickness of 5,000 metres. Incredible as it may seem, this place is home to unusual and fascinating species. Some plant species are resistant to Antarctica's extreme climate.

More than 350 species of lichens, mosses, fungi and algae make up almost the entire flora. The Southern Ocean, on the other hand, is home to a large number of animal species: birds, fish and marine mammals. The emperor penguin is one of the most representative and moving of these. Colonies can reach up to 100,000 individuals. You can also see albatrosses, cormorants, sperm whales, orcas, seals, dolphins and the largest mammals in the world: blue whales!

Buenos Aires

Cosmopolitan, cultural and constantly exciting, the sprawling city of Buenos Aires is the ultimate place to begin a South American adventure.

From the dynamic dining scene, to the magnificent architecture and the buzzing nightlife that centres around everything from trendy jazz venues to glamorous nightclubs, Buenos Aires is South America's answer to the 'city that never sleeps', and is welcoming record numbers of visitors every year.

The streets of Argentina's thriving capital are alive with passion, and offer no end of thrilling attractions and opportunities. Begin your trip in this sophisticated destination by exploring the antiques and hidden treasures of the Feria de San Telmo street fair, a colourful market that draws in thousands of visitors each week.

Soak up the sights at the Casa Rosada, a historically and politically cruicial spot in the city, and the workplace of the country's very own President. As your afternoon continues, stop by MALBA, one of the city's most beloved art museums, before heading to one of the city's greatest steak establishments for a taste of Argentine culture and a sample of the country's incredible beef.

Finally, no trip to this capital is complete without trying your hand at a tango - this city is the birthplace of this iconic dance and we highly recommend heading to an authentic 'milonga' to make the most of your stay!
