Your destinations

Zimbabwe

Welcome to Zimbabwe

Majestic, mysterious and wildly beautiful, Zimbabwe is a country that rewards those who look beyond the headlines. From its thundering natural wonders to untamed wildlife and rich cultural heritage, this Southern African gem offers intrepid travellers a deeply rewarding journey into the heart of the continent.

Don’t miss

  • Standing in awe at the edge of Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World
  • Tracking rhinos and elephants on foot in Matobo or Hwange National Park
  • Cruising Lake Kariba at sunset, with hippos snorting in the shallows
  • Climbing to the ancient hilltop ruins of Great Zimbabwe
  • Wandering the vibrant markets and art galleries of Harare

Culinary culture

Zimbabwean cuisine is warm, hearty and grounded in tradition. Sadza—a thick maize porridge—is a staple served with meat stews, vegetables or peanut sauce. In local homes and roadside eateries, dishes like grilled kapenta (small fish), mopane worms, and flame-grilled meats are enjoyed with fiery chilli sauces. For something sweeter, try maheu, a fermented maize drink, or sugarcane chews from street vendors.

Dive deeper

Beyond the big-name parks and falls lies a world of quiet cultural depth. Spend time with Shona sculptors, whose expressive stone carvings are internationally celebrated. Traditional music is rich with rhythm—catch a mbira (thumb piano) performance around a village fire or during local ceremonies, where dance and storytelling breathe life into centuries-old customs.

Botswana

Welcome to Botswana

Unspoilt, untamed and deeply soulful, Botswana is one of Africa’s most extraordinary safari destinations. With vast, open landscapes and an unwavering commitment to conservation, this landlocked nation offers rare intimacy with wildlife—from the stillness of the Okavango Delta to the stark beauty of the Kalahari.

Don’t miss

  • Gliding silently through the Okavango Delta in a traditional mokoro canoe
  • Spotting elephants, lions and leopards in the Chobe National Park
  • Sleeping under the stars on a salt pan in the Makgadikgadi
  • Meeting San communities and learning their ancient bushcraft
  • Watching flamingos gather in the seasonal waters of the Nxai Pan

Culinary culture

Botswana’s food is simple and wholesome, often cooked over an open fire. Seswaa, a slow-cooked shredded beef dish, is a national favourite, usually served with pap (maize porridge) and a splash of spicy relish. Expect game meats, wild spinach, and river fish in rural areas, while in towns you’ll find fresh bread, sweet magwinya (fried dough balls), and hearty stews.

Dive deeper

Botswana’s rich cultural heritage is often overshadowed by its natural wonders, but it rewards those who look closer. Traditional music and dance play a central role in community life—listen for the pulse of drums at village festivals or explore the rock art sites near Tsodilo Hills, a sacred place said to be the “Mountains of the Gods.”

Good to know

The pula (BWP) is the local currency, and dry season (May to October) is ideal for wildlife viewing. Self-drive safaris are possible but challenging; guided tours or fly-in lodges are often preferred for remote access.
