Your Itinerary —
LAS PALMAS, GRAN CANARIA - 10TH MAY (OVERNIGHT) - 11TH MAY 6:00PM
Founded in 1478, Las Palmas has a fascinating historical and cultural heritage, much of which you can see in its oldest quarter, Vegueta. Walk its lovely streets and you’ll find the beautiful House of Columbus, where it’s claimed Christopher Columbus stayed in 1492. You’ll also have the chance to travel out to the stunning Caldera de Bandama, a volcanic crater offering breathtaking views of the island.
ARRECIFE, LANZAROTE - 12TH MAY 8:00AM - 6:00PM
Lanzarote is the most easterly of the volcanic Canary Islands and eruptions in the 18th and 19th centuries have left many parts of the island looking almost lunar. You’ll find a perfect example at Timanfaya National Park, created between 1730 and 1736, when more than 100 volcanoes rose up and devastated this part of the island. If you’d like to explore the island’s culture too, you’ll find the art and architecture of César Manrique throughout its towns and cities.
AGADIR, MOROCCO - 13TH MAY 11:00AM - 7:00PM
Agadir is a major modern city, rebuilt with wide avenues and boulevards after it was completely destroyed during an earthquake in 1960. From here, you can venture out to the authentic Berber market town of Taroudant, with its impressive, ancient town walls, or enjoy a drive through the beautiful palmlined gorge of Paradise Valley.
SAFI, MOROCCO - 14TH MAY 8:00AM - 6:00PM
The town of Safi, on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, was occupied by the Portuguese in the 16th century and they left behind their legacy in the form of two fascinating fortresses, one just 500m off the coast. Safi is also well known for its wonderful ceramics and it’s well worth the walk to the charming Colline des Potiers, or potters’ quarter, in the hills above the city, where you’ll find ancient wood-burning kilns and chimneys dotting the landscape.
CASABLANCA, MOROCCO - 15TH MAY 8:30AM - 11:00PM
Casablanca is Morocco’s dynamic commercial capital, built by the French and modelled on the port of Marseilles. Here you can visit the enormous Hassan II Mosque, which boasts the tallest minaret in the world, second only to Mecca’s in overall size. You can also explore the elegant city of Rabat, home to some of the most interesting historic and architectural monuments in the country, or El Jadida, a stylish town with the historic lanes and ramparts of an old Portuguese medina.
