Your itinerary in detail —
Days 1-3
DAY 1: URGENCH - KHIVA
- Arrival in Urguench.
- Transfer to Khiva (some 21 miles from Urguench) and check into your hotel (available from 2 PM).
- Enjoy resting after your journey, or set off to explore this fascinating place...

DAY 2: KHIVA
- Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
- Set off today on a walking tour of Ichan-Kala, accompanied by a local guide.
- The city is a veritable treasure trove of oriental architecture that seems to have stepped out of the tales of the 'Thousand and One Nights'.
- Of note is the Muhammad Aminkhana Madrasa, the largest madrasa in Central Asia, which is located in the old quarter of the city, surrounded by a fortress wall and converted into a state museum-historical and archaeological reserve.
- Observe the Kalta Minor ('shortened minaret') - a minaret located in front of the main façade of the Muhammad Amin Khan madrasa, standing 26 metres high, and marvel at the Friday Mosque with its 218 carved wooden columns.
- Be sure to see the Sayid Alaouddin mausoleum, noteworthy as one of Khiva's oldest monuments.

DAY 3: KHIVA - BUKHARA
- Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before it's time for your transfer to the station for the next leg of the journey.
- Alight the train to Bukhara (departure 11.10 AM), where you will be comfortably ensconced.
- Arrive in Bukhara at approximately 6:28 PM.
- You'll be transferred to your hotel and the evening is free for you to enjoy at leisure.
Please note: this train does not run on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Days 4-6
DAY 4: BUKHARA
- Relish a tasty breakfast at the hotel before visiting Bukhara with a local guide.
- Contemplate the architectural beauty of the Lyabi-Hauz complex (dating back to the 16th-17th centuries) which, in the Middle Ages, was a commercial centre. It includes the Nodir Divan Begi madrasa, the Kukeldash madrasa (the largest in Bukhara, dating from the 16th century), and the famous Khoja Nasreda monument.
- Admire the Magoki-Attari mosque (9th century), or the Mokh mosque ( which translates as 'deep mosque'). It's considered to be one of the first mosques of pre-Islamic times.
- Enjoy a meander through the first passage of the Toki Sarrafon commercial dome where you can immerse yourself in the picturesque atmosphere of an ancient Oriental bazaar replete with exquisite silks, carpets and more.
Days 7-10
DAY 7: SAMARKAND
- After breakfast, set off to visit Samarkand, which is referred to as the pearl of the Orient.
- Visit Registan Square and note the madrasa bearing the name of Ulugbek, built in the 15th century
- The mausoleum of Gur-Emir is one of the must-see architectural monuments in Central Asia with its superb ribbed dome decorated with paper-maché.
- The 15th-century Bibi-Khanim Mosque has become Samarkand's main Friday mosque and is the largest in the East.
- Visit the picturesque oriental 'Siab' bazaar, where you can buy Samarkand's traditional cakes, oriental sweets, dried fruits, traditional souvenirs and works by local craftsmen.
- Enjoy a visit to the Shahi-Zinda complex (dating back to the 12th-15th centuries), which comprises 25 buildings - mausoleums, mosques, madrasas, and more...

DAY 8: SAMARKAND - TASHKENT
- After a tasty breakfast, continue your tour today with a visit to the silk paper workshop, where you can take part in an introduction to the production of 'mulberry paper' or 'marble paper'.
- Enjoy a visit to the Ulughbek observatory which dates back to the 15th century, and was used for calculating the length of the celestial year.
- Visit the ancient Afrasiyab settlement site in Northern Samarkand - considered one of the world's greatest archaeological monuments. Archaeological finds, uncovered during the site's excavations, are exhibited in the Samarkand History Museum located in the eastern part of the site.
- At the end of the day, you'll be transferred to the train station and board the train to Tashkent.
- On arrival in Tashkent, you'll be transferred to your hotel.

DAY 9: TASHKENT - CHIMGAN - TASHKENT (UNGUIDED)
- After a hearty breakfast, depart for the Chimgan Mountains and contemplate beautiful landscapes en route.
- The Chimgan Mountains are located approximately 75 miles from Tashkent, in a region that's most conducive to feeling in harmony with nature.
- Return to Tashkent for the evening.

DAY 10: TASHKENT - DEPARTURE
- Enjoy your last Uzbek breakfast before transferring to Tashkent International Airport (TAS) for your return flight.
- It's time to return home, after a wonderfully enriching journey of discovery.
