Your Itinerary In Detail —
Day 1: Entebbe
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport. You will be met and assisted by a UGANDA SAFARI CHAPTER representative. Transfer to Entebbe for an overnight stay at 2 Friends Beach Hotel. Enjoy a night situated on the banks of Lake Victoria with convenient access to Kampala and the best spots around Entebbe. The hotel offers excellent service, comfortable rooms, a cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and a touch of luxury.
Day 2: Kampala - Murchison Falls National Park
Travel 300 km North-West of Kampala (approx. 6-hour drive).
You will have an early departure – but well worth it! After breakfast, you are on your way North to Murchison Falls National Park having a break at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola to view the Rhinos.
Uganda’s Rhinos became extinct in the early 1980s, after a period of civil unrest and heavy poaching. This sanctuary has now been established to breed black and white rhinos, and restore Rhino populations in Uganda’s protected areas in a later stage. This is a long drive as you travel north of the country. Once you reach the Nile in the heart of the Park you will cross via ferry. Stay overnight at Twiga Safari Lodge.
Day 3: Murchison Falls
After breakfast, you will go for an early morning game drive to the rolling plains where you will have plenty of chances of seeing lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo and elephants as well as many of the other mammals of the park. For the bird-watchers amongst you, these areas home and support Secretary Birds, Black Chested Snake Eagles, Tawny and Marshal Eagles, Carmine and Swallow Tailed Bee-Eaters, just to name a few.
This is a beautiful drive across Borassus Palm Forest and grassland savannah down to Lake Albert where the Albert Nile heads north to the Sudan. In the afternoon, go for a boat trip to the foot of Murchison Falls where the Nile thunders through a small 7-metre gap and then, down the river to the delta where the Nile empties into Lake Albert. This is an experience not to be missed!
The banks of the Nile are home to many species. You may see huge Nile Crocodiles, large pods of Hippos and other wildlife that may come down to drink from the river. Stay overnight at Twiga Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Murchison Falls - Hoima
Wake up for an early game drive to the Top of Murchison Falls where you can have a close look into the gorge where the Nile squeezes in to a 7metre gap, dropping 40 metres below. The falls are spectacular and thunderous with a beautiful rainbow displayed on sunny days. Later we will transfer you to Hoima. Stay overnight at Hoima Cultural Lodge.
This morning we will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park (about 3-4 hours drive). The drive takes us past volcanic crater lakes, with breathtaking wildlife and some of the best bird watching in East Africa (about 500 different bird species). Late afternoon we take a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel, stretching a total of 32 kilometres long. This water system has the highest concentration of hippopotamus in the world, and we will get quite close to them. You can also catch a sight of crocodiles, buffalo and other game that drink from the channel, also marvel at the abundant ornitho-life that is supported here. Stay overnight at Twin Lakes Safari Lodge.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park
After your early morning breakfast we will leave the lodge for a morning Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. After the drive we will head to Mweya Safari lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon you will be transferred to Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Stay overnight at Ishasha Jungle.
Day 7: Ishasha National Park
After breakfast, you will do a game drive in the Ishasha side of Queen Elizabeth National park in the morning. Ishasha is popular for tree climbing lions and chances of seeing them climbing depends on your luck of the day. Ishasha has other animals like buffalo, elephants, antelopes and many others. You may also drive to River Ishasha to see the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Return to the Lodge for lunch and then for an evening game drive in Ishasha. Stay overnight at Ishasha Jungle.
Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
This day after breakfast you will be driven to Bwindi where you will spend two nights as well as experience the unique panoramic hills of Kigezi, while on your way you encounter the beautiful scenic volcanoes of the great Virunga.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, and many birds such as hornbills and turacos. It is most notable for the 340 Bwindi gorillas, half of the world's population of the critically endangered mountain gorillas, that reside there. It is accessible only on foot and is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization-designated World Heritage Site. Stay overnight at Rushaga Gorilla Camp.
Day 9: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Today after an energizing breakfast, you will have a once in a lifetime experience of gorilla trekking, you will report to the ranger station before 8:00am registration and briefing by one of the rangers; the guides will then lead you through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. The trek can take anywhere from half an hour to 7 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking boots. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas.
Later in the evening you will visit the first people of the Forest – the Batwa: These are the pygmies and were the first inhabitants of the area. They were hunter-gatherers and lived in the forests of Southwest Uganda and beyond, they left a small ecological footprint and lived in harmony with nature.
Stay overnight at Rushaga Gorilla Camp.

The landlocked nation of Uganda, located in East Africa, is a tapestry of diverse landscapes, welcoming locals and incredible wildlife. Home to Africa's tallest mountain range -the snow-capped Rwenzoris, lush tea plantations, the source of the Nile leading to immense lakes, and abundant wildlife, Uganda packs a lot into one small country.
Famously called the Pearl of Africa by Winston Churchill, Uganda is one of the only three locations in the world to be home to the rare Mountain Gorilla (the other being the Virunga Massif, Congo and Mgahinga National Park Rwanda), and offers its visitors the chance to visit these beautiful creatures up close, in one of the most exclusive settings on the planet - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will also get a chance to lay your eyes on the endangered common chimpanzee as well as the Big Five!
