There has never been a better time to go on a Vietnam holiday than now, as the country with a fascinating past warmly embraces its future as a major player among international tourist destinations. When visiting Vietnam you will discover a country that offers something for every holidaymaker. From the beaches of Hoi An, the charms of Hanoi, the natural beauty of Halong Bay to the hectic city life found in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), a Vietnam holiday offers something for everyone, making it a truly unequalled travel experience.
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and the country's second largest city. It lies on the bank of the Red River, and is bursting with culture, including numerous museums, temples, and parks. Visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, a large memorial at the centre of Ba Dinh Square, for a fascinating insight into Vietnam's political history.
Hoi An is a city on the coast of the East Sea in the south central region of Vietnam. Visit its ancient town, where its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site.
Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam's undisputedly commercial headquarters with a keen sense of its own importance as Vietnam emerges from years of austerity to claim a place in the "Asian Tiger" economic slugfest. Located on the Saigon River, Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam's major port and largest city, and still survives in wide downtown avenues flanked by pristine colonials. Thousands of expatriates and Vietnamese immigrants couldn't imagine living anywhere else. They’ve long since fallen prey to the hidden charms of one of Southeast Asia’s most hectic and eclectic cities.
Discover the stunning natural beauty of Ha Long Bay with this breathtaking full day tour. Travel through the picturesque villages of northern Vietnam before boarding a traditional Chinese junk to sail through placid waters dotted with some 2,000 islets. Explore the many limestone karsts and enjoy a seafood buffet while taking in the bay's paradisiacal scenery.
Escape the organised chaos of Hanoi and head into the bucolic countryside, admiring the pastoral scenes during the three-and-a-half-hour drive to Ha Long Bay. There will be a break at a handicraft centre en route.
Board the junk at Ha Long City and receive a welcome drink for the cruise in the bay, which is famous for the spectacular limestone karsts jutting out of the peaceful green waters. The views are simply spellbinding as the boat winds among hundreds and hundreds of islets. Ha Long Bay, which means Bay of the Descending Dragon, is a Unesco World Heritage Site and was recently voted one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature in 2011.
Hear the legends and myths associated with this dreamlike bay then feast on the fabulous seafood lunch. The cruise also explores some of the grottos that have formed in the many of the isles and there is a charming visit to a quaint fishing village, where you can meet the locals and find out about their lives and customs. It also provides a great photo opportunity before the return by road back to Hanoi.
