Bangkok
Hunt for bargains in the street markets where the vendors are disappointed if you won't enter into some friendly haggling over price. Escape the noise and heat of the streets by browsing the designer shops in the dazzling, air-conditioned shopping malls.
In the late afternoon meander through the open space of Lumphini Park and watch the locals at play and then get a good view of the city, as the sun goes down, from high up in one of the many rooftop bars. Finally board a converted rice barge for a delicious Thai dinner cruise.
Floating markets offer fascinating cultural experiences as well as glimpses into the local way of life of a bygone era. Damnoen Saduak, the biggest and most popular of all floating markets, caters mainly to foreign visitors and is still a must-see, while smaller markets, such as Tha Kha and Ampawa, offer more local flavours. If you like outdoor markets and street-side shopping, you will definitely enjoy a day out at one of the floating markets surrounding Bangkok.
Hua Hin
The Thai royal family had their own beach escape built in Hua Hin in the 1920’s, and when you visit you will see why - the miles of stretches of white sand and crystal clear turquoise water will astound you.
The Evason Hua Hin is located in the quiet area of Pranburi to the south of Hua Hin and provides calming views of the Gulf of Siam. It is set amongst 20-acres of landscaped lush tropical gardens with lotus ponds.
