Your Destination —
The most romantic city ever to be built on a lagoon; Venice is a place that only an enamoured dreamer could have imagined. And the reality of a visit to this very special city has yet to disappoint its guests.
With palaces of epic grandeur, enchanting alleyways linked by picturesque bridges and classic Venetian architecture lining the waterways; this city is knitted together by a network of canals, each one telling its own little love story.
So choose your own intricately made mask and join a masquerade party, learn some of Venice’s fascinating history, from its shipping fortunes to the plague, or try the inventive Venetian cuisine, with tantalising traces of ancient spice routes.
Don’t miss your chance to while away your day cuddled up with your sweetheart on a gliding gondola and write your own personal Venetian romance.
Kotor Bay is famed for its jaw-dropping coastal scenery and the many pretty villages and towns that dot the shore line. Long before it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, the Bay has been a magnet for sailors, traders and sightseers alike.
Nestled between dramatic mountains and a picturesque bay, this ancient town is simply breathtaking. A labyrinthine of cobbled alleyways, shops, restaurants, bars and hidden piazzas, this charming town is strewn with remnants of a history dating back to the 9th century and looks spectacular lit up at night.
Corfu Town is a contrasting combination of old and new that exist side by side in perfect harmony offering something for every taste. An abundance of sandy and pebbled beaches line the 200km coastline, as does the clear blue water, ideal for swimming and water sports.
Exploration of the island rewards visitors with some of the most spectacular scenery and breathtaking views. A trip into the heart of the islands villages offers insight into the traditional Corfiot village life. In some places, time seems to have stood still and everyday life carries on much as it had for hundreds of years.
Don't miss the famous changing of the guards in Constitution Square - In front of the parliament building, the traditionally costumed evzones (guards) of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier change every hour on the hour. On Sunday at 11am, a whole platoon marches down Vasilissis Sofias to the tomb, accompanied by a band.
Surrounded by high-end hotels and businesses, the square itself is a great spot for people watching - sit a while on the marble fountain, or in a cafe and get a taste of everyday Athenian life. You can also visit the iconic Acropolis, the National Archaeological Museum and countless Byzantine Churches. Walking through the city is the best way to discover its history - Plaka is a particularly interesting area with a village feel, full of traditional Greek taverns and cafes, churches and smaller museums.
Ephesus
A great chance to brush up on your ancient history, explore the incredible 2,000 year old remains of Ephesus, the Temple of Artemis and the Library of Celsius. Tread over the marble pathways to gaze at the goddess Nike or discover the colourful mosaic flooring in the ancient Roman homes. The palm-lined boulevard is the centre of town life with thousands of merchants offering wares to rival the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.
The island of Mykonos is renowned for its cosmopolitan nightlife, chic beachfront bars, and pretty villages showcasing typical Greek architecture.
Chora, the capital of the island, is a labyrinth of winding narrow streets, whitewashed houses framed by trailing bougainvillea and beautiful churches and squares. Its is easy to wander about in the quieter mornings, when traffic is forbidden, and you can take your time exploring the souvenir shops and tavernas.
The famous whitewashed windmills, the trademark of the island, stand on a hill overlooking the city, from where one can enjoy a magnificent view over Little Venice - home to numerous trendy cafes and bars.
The awe-inspiring landscapes of Kefalonia have delighted tourists from all over the world, as well as movie watchers as it was the setting for the Hollywood blockbuster Captain Corelli's Mandolin. In fact such is the aesthetic quality of the island it was once voted tenth in a world scenic beauty league.
There is little wonder why most visitors choose to repeat the experience again and again. Breathtaking scenery combines effortlessly with great beaches, clear blue waters and picturesque resorts making this a gem of the Ionian Islands. The warm blue waters are also home to treasure trove of marine wildlife such as dolphins, rare monk seals and the loggerhead turtles.
Combine all these factors with excellent tavernas, restaurants and a wide variety of accommodation and you are left with the perfect holiday destination for couples, families and singles who really appreciate scenic beauty.
