Day 1: Fly from UK to Venice - own transfer to Hotel Principe for overnight stay.
Day 2: Own time to explore Venice. Overnight at Hotel Principe.
One of the most romantic cities in the world, Venice cannot fail to charm its visitors. With palaces of epic grandeur, enchanting alleyways linked by picturesque bridges and classic Venetian architecture lining the waterways; this city is knitted together by a network of canals, each one telling its own little love story.
So choose your own intricately made mask and join a masquerade party, learn some of Venice’s fascinating history, from its shipping fortunes to the plague, or try the inventive Venetian cuisine, with tantalising traces of ancient spice routes.
Day 3: Own transfer to cruise port, embark Costa Mediterranea
Day 4: Trieste
Described as "the world's most underrated travel destination" by Lonely Planet, this seaport city in northeastern Italy lies between the Adriatic Sea and Slovenia, physically isolated from the rest of the Italian peninsula.
Visitors come to admire its glorious jumble of architectural and ethnic influences due to its past of mixed ownership and occupations. Its lack of intensive tourism also means it still retains the laid-back atmosphere many coastal Italian cities have lost.
Day 5: Split
Start your discovery from the living museum of Diocletian's palace, wonder in the darkness of its substructures than re-emerge again at the Riva promenade - Split's favourite gathering spot, a perfect place to chat over a cup of coffee and plan the rest of the day.
And if you are curious about where the food comes from before it finds its way to pots and pans of Split's bistros and Konobas (inns), you will not miss the Split Market - Pazar. Mix with the locals and experience true Mediterranean temperaments while bargaining for a cheese from the island of Pag or a bottle of fiery Travarica.
Day 6: Kotor
Kotor Bay is famed for its jaw-dropping coastal scenery and the many pretty villages and towns that dot the shore line. Long before it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, the Bay has been a magnet for sailors, traders and sightseers alike.
Nestled between dramatic mountains and a picturesque bay, this ancient town is simply breathtaking. A labyrinthine of cobbled alleyways, shops, restaurants, bars and hidden piazzas, this charming town is strewn with remnants of a history dating back to the 9th century and looks spectacular lit up at night.
Day 7: Katakolon
Katakolon is a seaside town in the municipality of Pyrgos on the Greek coast and serves as the gateway to Olympia. The ancient site where the Olympics were originally staged, Olympia is a must-visit for any history or sports enthusiast. Wander around the ruins of stadium temples and athletic quadrangles, immerse yourself in the haunting atmosphere and learn about how these world famous games have evolved.
Olympia is also home to the Temple of Hera and the Temple of Zeus, where the gold and ivory Statue of Zeus (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) was housed.
For relaxation, the Plakes Beach is a short walking distance away from Katakolon Port. This small pebbly beach has crystal clear waters and a quiet beach bar.
Day 8: Corfu
Corfu Town is a contrasting combination of old and new that exist side by side in perfect harmony offering something for every taste. An abundance of sandy and pebbled beaches line the 200km coastline, as does the clear blue water, ideal for swimming and water sports.
Exploration of the island rewards visitors with some of the most spectacular scenery and breathtaking views. A trip into the heart of the islands villages offers insight into the traditional Corfiot village life. In some places, time seems to have stood still and everyday life carries on much as it had for hundreds of years.
Day 9: Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik's picture-postcard looks and her idyllic location have been attracting visitors for centuries. A highlight of Dubrovnik holidays has to be the old walled city, with its charming piazzas, and narrow streets linked by steep steps, it is protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. For the best views over the coast, take a walk right around the city walls, which run for just under 2 kilometres and are 25 metres high at their highest point.
As you wander the streets of the old town you will find new discoveries at every twist and turn. Start by walking along the Stradun, the main street, paved with gleaming marble and lined with enticing boutiques and welcoming cafes. Shop for local handicrafts, candied orange peel or fresh fruit at the morning market.
