Getting active in Guernsey

At just around 24 square miles, Guernsey is the perfect size to explore during a short weekend break. Those who enjoy a more active holiday will love the many coastal walks and cliff-top rambles you will find around the island. If you prefer two wheels rather than two feet, there are cycle lanes between St Peter Port and its second harbour town in St Sampson's, or you can choose to go off the beaten track and discover some of the island’s rural parishes and leafy country lanes instead. The island offers plenty of water sports and sailing too, and if the sun is shining then you might also want to make the most of its 27 bays and beaches and even take a dip in their clear waters.

A French holiday on a British island

Although Guernsey is part of the British Isles, it’s actually located closer to the French coast and this connection is felt throughout the island’s distinctive culture. With French-sounding road names and surnames, plus other remnants of the Guernsey French patois still found throughout the island, a weekend in Guernsey can feel as if you have travelled much further than you might have originally thought.
