You will then drive through mountainous terrain to Windhoek, capital of Namibia.

Day 2: Windhoek - Etosha National Park

Today, you make your way to Etosha National Park.

If you have a soft spot for sweet pastries, stop at the Outjo Bakery on the way before continuing to Etosha.

Upon arrival at the lodge, you can opt for a first (optional) afternoon safari to observe the diversity of African wildlife.

Dinner (drinks not included) and overnight with breakfast in Etosha.

Day 3: Etosha National Park

Be sure your camera batteries are charged, as today you might decide to participate in an (optional) full-day safari on site in Etosha National Park, where you can get up close and personal with a host of wildlife.

For over 100 years, zebras, elephants, giraffes, oryx antelopes, blue wildebeests, gazelles, kudus and a host of other rare animals have roamed peacefully through the park. The tourist vehicles meandering along the dusty gravel roads are barely perceptible. With a bit of luck, you may even catch a glimpse of the nocturnal predators such as lions, leopards, hyenas or jackals. But ornithologists also get their money's worth with hundreds of bird species.

The Etosha Pan is a vast salt plain that, depending on the season, is dry and dusty in the midday heat or attracts thousands of migratory birds after heavy rains.

Once the sun sets, the park becomes quieter, and you return to the lodge.

Dinner (drinks not included) and overnight with breakfast in Etosha.

Day 4: Etosha National Park - Tsumeb

If you just can't get enough of Etosha National Park, you can choose to participate again today in an (optional) safari.

The village of Rundu is known for its rich selection of handcrafted wooden items. With its vast forests, floodplains and reed-fringed rivers, the region is a stark contrast to the rest of Namibia. Here you will also see many traditional huts that are still in use today.

Choose to join an (optional) safari in Mahangu National Park.

Marvel at surreal Deadvlei, surrounded by some of the world's highest dunes, and Sossusvlei, where the dried-up Tsauchab River ends abruptly between the dunes. Take the opportunity to climb one of these majestic dunes and admire the desert landscape from above.

Over 80% of Africa's flamingos feed in this lagoon and make an impressive sight when they appear in groups.

Continue your journey along the panoramic road between the dunes and the Atlantic Ocean to reach Swakopmund, where you have the rest of the day at leisure.

With palm trees lining the streets and promenades, Swakopmund is a popular holiday destination in Namibia. The pleasant summer climate and long beaches attract anglers and surfers from all over Southern Africa.

Swakopmund is an idyllic blend of German architecture and African rhythms.
