Mengwi is a small village which has a brilliant history as the capital of a powerful 17th century kingdom and it is the site of an important temple from that era.


The ancient great kingdom of Mengwi arose with the weakening of Gelgel in eastern Bali around 1650. The most splendid remnant of Mengwi's former glory is undoubtedly the Pura Taman Ayun. It is probably the largest existing Balinese house-temple, built in the middle of the 18th century by the greatest king of Mengwi.

 
Jatiluwih is a small mountain village located at the foot of Mount Batukaru. Jatiluwih means "truly marvelous". It offers the island's most spectacular view of the rice terraces.

 
Pura Luhur Batukaru is a Hindu temple located on the southern slope of Mount Batukaru, the second highest volcano in Bali. This was the ancestral temple state of the Tabanan court and each shrine represents a different dynastic ancestor. This temple is one of the nine axial temples sacred to all Hindu Balinese and intended to protect Bali from evil spirits. Standing in front of the recently restored gates, you may need a moment to appreciate this very ancient and sacred site.

 
Angseri Hot Spring Water, located in Angseri Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency. Take the time to relax by soaking in a hot bath at the bottom of a river valley. While taking a dip in an open pool of hot water, you can enjoy the soothing panorama surrounded by terraced rice fields, beautiful gardens, bamboo forests and a small waterfall next to the pond.

Visit Ubud Monkey Forest, a sacred monkey sanctuary located in the southern part of Ubud. This forest is inhabited by about 125 Balinese macaques, also known as long-tailed macaques.



The three sacred forest temples were built in the middle of the 14th century. Pura Dalem Agung is the temple of the dead and is located in the southwestern part of the main forest. The temple of the sacred baths is situated to the northwest, down a long flight of steps above the stream. The third temple is Pura Prajapati, at the eastern edge of the main forest, next to a graveyard.
 
You will then continue onwards to the artistic village of Lodtunduh, well-known for housing fine painting artist. You'll also stop by the village of Mas, famous for its wooden sculptures.

Head on to Luwak Coffee, to immerse yourself in a unique experience where you will not only observe mongooses up close, but also feast on a wide selection of exquisite teas and coffees. Don't miss the opportunity to take home a bag of premium coffee beans as a memorable keepsake.
 
End the day at Tanah Lot, a rock formation near the island of Bali, sculpted over time by rising tides, and simply stunning at sunset.

Start your tour at the Kerta Gosa Pavilion of Klungkung Palace, also known as the Palace of the God of Love. The Kerta Gosa pavilion is best known today for its magnificent ceiling paintings.



You will then visit the Pura Besakih temple, nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995 and considered the most important, largest and holiest of Bali's Hindu temples. It is perched nearly 1000m on the southwestern slope of Mount Agung, offering a spectacular view of the southern part of the island. It is a vast complex of 23 separate but interconnected temples.

Penglipuran, one of the traditional villages of Bangli regency, Bali province, is one of Bali's famous tourist destinations, known for its people who carry out and preserve Balinese traditions in their daily lives.

You will then visit Kehen Temple, an important Hindu temple. Located on the slope of Bukit Bangli, this sacred place is often referred to as the miniature version of the mother temple Besakih. Admire the beauty of the magnificent steps goinf up towards the sky and the unique wooden bell hanging from the secret banyan tree, which is over 700 years old.

Undoubtedly, a must-see spot on any tourist's list is the Ubud Monkey Forest, where over 700 long-tailed macaques share their spiritual home with daily visitors. In addition to the lively residents, the forest boasts 186 different species of tree and several sacred temples.

 

Another Ubud highlight is the Tegallalang Rice Terrace, a prime photo-stop that showcases some of the most beautiful terraced fields in all of Southeast Asia.
