La Romana —
The colourful, captivating city of La Romana acts as a gateway to some of the Dominican Republic's most stunning beaches and bustling resorts and is overflowing in highlights thanks to both its sun-soaked coastline and world-class attractions. Historically, La Romana was once home to the largest sugar cane mill in the Americas and did not branch out into the tourism industry until 1974, when the Casa de Campo Resort was opened - a sprawling retreat that marked the beginning of La Romana as a hotspot for golfing breaks.
In addition to the many courses that dot this area of the Dominican Republic, La Romana offers fine-dining restaurants, various charming fishing villages and endless wildlife-spotting opportunities. It also acts as an ideal base for tourists wishing to pay a visit to some of the Dominican Republic's blissful islands, including Saona and Catalina!
