Itinerary for All Tour Durations

TOKYO

Touch down in Tokyo ready for an unforgettable adventure in Japan. Leave customs and meet a friendly airport assistant who will hand over your travel documents and Pocket Wifi, if you've chosen to purchase it. Take a shuttle transfer to your hotel, check-in, and get settled in the city (rooms available from 3pm).

 

Explore at your leisure, and visit the iconic sights of the Japanese capital. Tokyo offers up a fascinating juxtaposition of unique districts, towering skyscrapers, glowing signs, serene temples and traditional sanctuaries.

At this point in the itinerary, those staying for 10 nights will return to Tokyo.

Itinerary for 12 and 15-Night Tours

KANAZAWA

Depart Hiroshima for Kanazawa, and check-in at your hotel. Nestled between the Sea of Japan and the Japanese Alps, Kanazawa has plenty to offer.

  • Kenroku-en, Kanazawa's beautiful Japanese garden
  • Nagamachi samurai district and the former Nomura residence
  • Higashiyama, one of the city's three geisha districts

At this point in the itinerary, those staying for 12 nights will return to Tokyo. 

Visitors staying for 15 nights will continue to Takayama.

TAKAYAMA

Visit Takayama, resting in the heart of the Japanese mountains. This pretty town is bordered by a charming river, numerous temples and many craft shops.

 

After your stay in Takayama, return to Tokyo and take advantage of your final few days in Japan to explore the city's hidden treasures.

 

Return to the airport for your flight home after an incredible experience in the land of the rising sun.

For domestic flights, airlines do not always offer the option of reserving baggage, so you will have to pay for it at the airport counter.

One of the world’s most cutting-edge capitals, Tokyo is a city of contrasts. Famous for its modernity, neon-lit landscape and towering skyscrapers, it is also home to sprawling parkland, peaceful shrines and temples and lovingly tended gardens.

 

Despite its love affair with manga pop culture, fashion, high-tech trends and conspicuous consumption, below the surface is a city that has its roots in ancient heritage. Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples stand close to skyscrapers as a reminder of a more contemplative time, and at the heart of the hyperactive centre lies the serene Imperial Palace, the home of the ruling emperor that provides a tangible link to the city’s historical past. 

 

Behind the shopping, entertainment and commercial emporia can be found quaint wooden houses, private gardens with meticulously clipped bonsai trees and the Zen-like calm of the Hamarikyu Gardens. Discover the fascinating and exquisite culture of Japan, where the ancient and modern worlds collide. The city’s reputation as a mega-expensive metropolis is ill-conceived, and visitors can take advantage of inexpensive izakaya bars and neighbourhood cafés that serve delicious noodles and rice dishes.

VISAS

 

A tourist visa is currently required to go to Japan. Voyage Privé and its local partner will take care of all procedures and send you the documents by e-mail 10 days before your departure. You must then visit the Japanese embassy or consulate in your country, and one person from your travel group must deliver your documents to the reception in the morning. In addition to the documents sent by Voyage Privé, you will need to provide : 

  • The form completed by you 
  • A passport photo 
  • Your passport(s) 
  • Documents provided by Voyage Privé and its Japanese partner 

 

After the submission of these documents, the embassy/consulate needs 5 working days to issue tourist visas that will be affixed to your passports. You will then need to collect them.  

 

Please note:

 

  • Insurance that includes medical expenses in case of hospitalization due to a severe form of Covid-19 is recommended but not compulsory. 
  • Upon arrival at the airport, the authorities ask you to download the "My SOS" application. The app will inform you of limits on the number of travellers allowed to enter the territory. The system is automatically updated with air slots; if you have a flight, you will already be counted in this daily limit.   
  • Wearing a mask is mandatory in most closed places (museums and temples etc.) and in some outdoor places, especially those where there is a high density of visitors. 

 

N.B.: 

  • For double rooms in western hotels, please note that by default they have 2 separate single beds (twin room). In option : double bed rooms in hotels of the tour instead of twin beds rooms.
  • In Japan, a densely populated country where everything is small, the 3*** hotels are of very good quality but the rooms are often quite narrow (12 to 16m2 depending on the hotel for twin rooms). For more comfort, choose the 4**** option.
  • For triple rooms, we cannot guarantee in all hotels a single room for 3 people. Depending on the hotel, a double and a single room may be offered.
  • In the case of a group order (> 5 people), it is possible, depending on the availability of the hotels, that not all the members of the group will be accommodated in the same hotel. However, the goal is to be close to each other.
  • Please note that if there is a single supplement, it will be applied in all accommodations except in the ryokan. Indeed, as this is a traditional accommodation, there are no single rooms but you will find spacious rooms that can accommodate up to 5 people.
