Leave the hustle and bustle of Siem Reap behind and explore its beautiful surroundings and rice paddies, taking part in local life as it slowly unfolds.
- Depart for the outskirts of Siem Reap to visit Banteay Srei, which translates as 'the citadel of women'.
- Built in the 10th century and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, this red sandstone temple is one of the most important structures in Angkor, as its walls are decorated with elaborate carvings that have been remarkably well preserved.
- These magnificent ruins offer an excellent insight into Angkorian civilisation and beliefs. Return to Siem Repa town centre, stopping en route to visit Banteay Samre, the 12th-century Hindu temple often compared to a mini Angkor Wat.
- Visit the charming village of Siem Reap for an insight into local daily activities, such as rice planting, buffalo herding, fishing or handicrafts.
- Stop off at a family-run workshop where local craftsmen will explain the importance of rattan handicrafts to thousands of families in the village and guide you through how to weave a rattan basket in the traditional way.
- To round off this memorable excursion, visit the home of a local farmer. Enjoy a home-cooked meal with the host in a rustic and comfortable country setting and learn how to prepare some traditional Khmer dishes.
Hue city tour (minimum 2 people)
This morning, set off for the Thanh Toan Covered Bridge, a local market and take a boat trip on the Perfume River through the charming city of Hue.
Disembark your boat and visit the Thien Mu pagoda, one of the oldest architectural structures for religious worship in Hue. Built in 1601, this seven-storey pagoda perched atop a hill overlooking the Perfume River is one of Vietnam's most recognisable icons. Enjoy an included lunch in a restaurant.
This afternoon, visit the Imperial Citadel, located at the centre of Hue's UNESCO World Heritage monument complex. The house is surrounded by a lush Feng Shui garden filled with flowers and fruit trees, including lychees, persimmons and pears.
Discover the Hoi An countryside by boat and bicycle
Discover life in the countryside on the outskirts of Hoi An with a morning in the rice fields where you'll catch a glimpse of the daily activities of local farmers.
Discover the My Son sanctuary and the ancient town of Hoi An
Take a day out to visit the My Son sanctuary, the holy land of the Champa kingdom and a UNESCO World Heritage site, then head to Hoian for a tour of this charming, unspoilt town. If time allows, visit a local fish market and a village where the famous nuoc mam (fermented fish sauce) is produced.
In the morning, on arrival at the sanctuary, you will watch a traditional performance by Cham dancers to introduce you to their culture. You will visit a collection of ruined Hindu Cham temples and relics in the My Son valley with your guide before departing around midday.
In the afternoon, you'll set off to discover Hoi An on a walking tour around the town and its port. Following the narrow streets lined with houses of Chinese, Japanese, French and European architecture, you will pass by the city's many tourist sites: the 400-year-old Japanese Bridge, the Phuc Kien Meeting Hall, the local fish market, etc.
Around the city, you can visit art galleries and tailor shops, and why not have your clothes made to measure? This day will also be an opportunity to taste Vietnamese tea at the Reaching Out Tea House as well as a Vietnamese baguette, called Banh Mi Phuong.
