Please Note: Some of the activities and excursions are optional and can be purchased directly on board
Located on the western coast of Martinique, Fort-de-France will amaze you with the splendour of its bay, a magnificent cut-out in the coastline, considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world. At the harbour mouth, on its strip of land, fort Saint-Louis overlooks the capital city of Martinique. Upon arrival, transfer and check-in at the Hotel Bakoua 4*. A local representative will be present at the hospitality desk from the late afternoon to welcome you and answer any questions you may have. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2: Fort-de-France - Embarkation on Cruise
Meet your fellow travellers for breakfast and check-out of the hotel. You will depart the hotel for the Le Domaine de La Pagerie, a famous family house that's now a museum where Joséphine de Beauharnais lived during her childhood. Witness the extraordinary destiny of a woman who married Napoleon Bonaparte and became Empress of France. You will then continue your exploration to the Commune of Sainte Luce in order to visit one of Martinique’s oldest rum distilleries, the Trois Rivières Distillery. You will recognise its famous mill which is the emblem of this house. Learn about the different steps to make this traditional drink, from the sugar cane cut to rum aging. At the end of your visit, enjoy a Rum tasting. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. Afterwards, you will head to the cruise ship to begin your adventure.
Nestled along the peninsula of Saint-Kitts Island, South Friars Bay shelters one of the Kittitians’ most popular beaches. You’ll find this sumptuous stretch of golden sand perfect for a pleasant spot of sunbathing, while its clear and calm waters make it an ideal site for swimming and snorkelling. The rich and preserved sea bed will let you admire a huge variety of reef fish and stunning aquatic flora.
Day 4: Road Bay (Anguilla)
Anguilla is a small and idyllic island with a concentration of many treasures: fine sandy beaches, creeks, caves and prehistoric petroglyphs, former colonial houses, natural reserves and the famous golf course designed by Greg Norman. On the beach at Road Bay, south of the village of Sandy Ground, the atmosphere is rather lively, whereas the peaceful Prickly Pears and Dog Islands offer magnificent sites for snorkelling. The various evocations of the main island’s shape gave the archipelago its name: an “arrow head” for the Native Americans and an “eel” for Christopher Columbus.
During your cruise, discover the pearl of the British Virgin Islands, said to have been named after a fearsome Dutch pirate from long ago. The hilly landscape offers travellers beautiful wild expanses lined with immaculate beaches where the breeze gently caresses the coconut palms. This is a slice of paradise with crystal-clear waters, where dolphins often join guests, amusing themselves with some bow riding. Here, colours and scents are omnipresent: yellow cedar is the archipelago’s emblem, while hibiscuses and frangipani bloom a little everywhere. As for the wildlife, iguanas, mongooses, pelicans and blue herons have taken up residence on these islands, much to the delight of passengers who love a good holiday snap!
Day 6: Gustavia (Saint Barthelemy)
Lovers of this island call it Saint-Barth. This French island in the Lesser Antilles was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493. Ever since, this tiny mountainous volcanic gem with its unspoilt nature has been enchanting visitors. You will enjoy the beauty of its large paradisiacal beaches, plus the charm and refinement of its old wooden houses and its sumptuous colonial manors. Although, as you saunter through the rues de Gustavia or Saint-Jean, you’ll come across jewellers, top fashion boutiques and fine restaurants, there is also a simplicity that money can’t buy.
With its mountainous terrain, vast tropical forest, hot springs, rivers and spectacular waterfalls, Dominica is undoubtedly the wildest island in the Caribbean. Protected by several national parks, this little-known land, located in the heart of the Caribbean Sea, between Guadeloupe and Martinique, will inspire adventure and exploration. During your port of call, do not miss out on discovering the enchanting landscapes of the Indian River: navigating through this dense mangrove, in which creepers, ferns, forest trees and giant roots are interweaved, is a magical experience, a fascinating voyage into the heart of an almost mystical natural universe.
Day 8: Les Saintes
During the feast of All Saints in 1493, Christopher Columbus discovered this archipelago of nine islands that he named "The Saints". Today, only two of them are inhabited. Terre de Haut, in the east, is dominated by the Morne Mire hill; at the summit stands Fort Napoleon, paying homage to the islands' history. In the heart of the botanical garden, shared by iguanas and cacti, there is an exceptional view of the Baie des Saintes, one of the most beautiful in the world. On Terre-de-Bas, you'll be charmed by the authenticity of the village of Petites-Anses. Off the coast of the "Saints" archipelago, traditional fishing vessels sail the blue seas of the Caribbean. Don't turn down a coconut "tourment d'amour", a sweet treat you'll be offered when you disembark.
In the heart of the Caribbean, Bequia is the second-largest of 32 islands that make up the country of St Vincent and the Grenadines. This secluded island, strongly attached to its tradition of whale hunting, is popular with visiting yachties and divers. Port Elizabeth, the island's main town, has a lively atmosphere and further afield tropical rainforest and white-sand beaches provide a natural setting for peaceful walks.
Day 10: Saint George's (Grenada)
Delicately set against the back of a bay on the west coast of Grenada, Saint George’s attracts newcomers by the beauty of its location and its friendly, festive atmosphere. This “spice island” capital is an excellent base for visiting the surrounding natural sites, but you’ll also want to spend some time here moseying around its narrow streets where colonial houses and lush green gardens coexist. Carenage is Saint George’s lively commercial fishing harbour, high in colour, especially when the boats are being loaded with fruit and vegetables destined for neighbouring islands. 5 kilometres south, the Grand Anse beach is one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean islands.
Scattered between St Vincent and Grenada, the Tobago Cays comprises five little islands: Petit Rameau, Petit Bateau, Baradal, Petit Tabac and Jamesby. This rosary of uninhabited cays in the southern West Indies is a marine park that has some outstanding marine fauna in its turquoise lagoons. Girded and united by a coral reef, these secluded islands are a peaceful paradise for divers, swimmers and snorkellers.
Day 12: Mayreau Island (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines)
Among the string of paradisiac islands with their white sandy beaches that form the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines archipelago, Mayreau is the smallest. Its peaceful and idyllic atmosphere, far from the madding crowd, invites you to relax. Onshore, make the most of a shaded and fully equipped beach, from where you’ll be able to set off snorkelling to explore superb coral gardens overflowing with life and colour.
Linked to St Lucia by a sand causeway, Pigeon Island has been a designated National Park since 1979. The tropical vegetation of this wild, protected island is home to abundant birdlife. It is easy to explore on foot; the remains of Fort Rodney offer an insight into the region's naval history as well as fabulous views. Two beautiful beaches nestle on the southern side of the island, where you can take a scuba dive adventure, an exciting mix of diving and snorkelling. Nestled in the crook of a breath-taking bay, the former capital of St Lucia is brimming with attractions. Soufrière is famous for The Pitons, volcanic spires that tower over the entrance to the town, and you will fall in love with its authentic Creole charm and warm friendly atmosphere. As well as diving and swimming off exquisite beaches, don't miss Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens for the mineral baths, one of the natural wonders of the Caribbean.
Day 14: Fort-de-France (Martinique) - Departure
On this final day, you will land back in Fort-de-France before disembarking and heading to the airport for your return flight home.
