Your itinerary in detail

Days 1 & 2

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN BERGEN

  • Transfer from Bergen Airport (BGO) to your hotel at your own expense.
  • Arrival in Bergen, affectionately called 'The Gateway to the Fjords' - and very definitely the ideal starting point for exploring the region.
  • It's the second-largest city in Norway and the only city in the world to be surrounded by 7 mountains and 7 fjords
  • Be sure to visit the picturesque Bryggen district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Bergen's fish market where you will find excellent smoked salmon.

Overnight stay at your hotel in Bergen.

Breakfast included.

DAY 2: BERGEN - FJORD CRUISE TO MOSTRAUMEN (3.5 hours)

  • After breakfast, set out to explore Bergen and its surroundings, before enjoying a 3.5-hour cruise through the Fjords to Mostraumen.
  • Departure: 10:00 AM from Zachariasbryggen (beside the Fish Market)
  • Arrival: 1:30 PM at Zachariasbryggen
  • For this second day, we also recommend you take the Fløyen funicular for a clear view of the city, and then walk on the surrounding hiking trails, between small lakes and forests.
  • Then head back down to Old Bergen, perhaps visiting its open-air folk museum. Comprising over 40 wooden buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, it provides a snapshot of daily life in Bergen, in the olden days.

Overnight stay at your hotel in Bergen.

Breakfast included.

Days 3-5

DAY 3: FJORDLINE FERRY FROM BERGEN TO STAVANGER (6 hours)

  • Throughout the crossing, you will be able to admire the beauty of the coastline.
  • Stavanger, Norway's fourth largest city, has a beautiful collection of gabled houses, cobblestone streets, winding alleys and bustling markets. One of the highlights of Stavanger is its old town (Gamle Stavanger), with its well-preserved whitewashed wooden houses from the early 18th century.
  • After visiting Stavanger you'll need to take a bus back to your hotel. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Then it's just a short walk (approximately 6 minutes).

About the Ferry from Bergen to Stavanger:

  • Departure time: Scheduled for 1:30 PM.
  • Departure point: Bergen ferry terminal.
  • Check-in:  Recommended at 12:30 PM (check-in closes 20 minutes before departure).
  • Arrival: The boat arrives at Stavanger port at 7:00 PM.

Overnight stay at your hotel in Stavanger.

DAY 4: FJORD CRUISE FROM STAVANGER TO LYSEFJORDEN AND PREIKESTOLEN 'PULPIT ROCK'

  • Embark on a 3-hour cruise on the stunning Lysefjorden aboard an electric boat.
  • Discover impressive waterfalls, idyllic islands and beautiful scenery. At Fantahålå (known as the wanderers' cave) you will see where the 'wanderers' once hid from the sheriff.
  • This tour will take you close to the famous Preikestolen cliff, which overlooks the fjord from a height of 604 metres. The cliff is also known as 'Pulpit Rock' and is featured in key scenes in the movie 'Mission Impossible: Fallout!'.
  • Continue onwards to the impressive Hengjanefossen Waterfall, where the crew brings the boat so close to the falls that you'll be able to feel the spray on your face (if the waterfall isn't frozen!).

About the Ferry from Stavanger to Lysefjorden:

  • Departure time:  Scheduled for 10 AM.
  • Departure point: Strandkaien. The drop-off point for the cruise is a 9-minute walk from your hotel.
  • Arrival: The boat arrives at Strandkaien at 1:30 PM.
  • Please note: There's a boat deck with a kiosk selling light refreshments. Meals are not included.

  • In the afternoon, enjoy your free time to discover the city and its attractions. Make the most of your stay in Stavanger to set off towards the Preikestolen / 'Pulpit Rock' on a 4-hour hike and admire a breathtaking panorama (optional, transport not included).

Your destinations

Bergen

Bergen is Norway’s second city and the world’s only city surrounded by seven mountains and seven fjords.  Bergen is, with good reason, called the Gateway to the Fjords due to its close proximity to the Norwegian fjords. This makes the city the perfect starting point for exploring the fjord region.

Stavanger

The cosmopolitan and prosperous city of Stavanger, with its picturesque streets and dynamic cultural life, is located on a peninsula in southwestern Norway. Stavanger benefits from the warm current of the Gulf Stream. Therefore, the climate here is particularly mild and summer here are pleasant.

The special advantage of the city is that it is located on a famous fjord, which experts from all over the world have described as the best-preserved destination in the country. You will find mountains, clean water, long sandy beaches - and last but not least the famous Preikestolen - right on your doorstep.

In Stavanger, you can experience history up close. Visit the beautiful cathedral, the old quarter with winding streets and beautiful fishermen's houses made of white wood. Stavanger boasts numerous shops, lively cafes and restaurants with delicious fish dishes and local products and there are numerous festivals, especially in the summer months.
