Situated in the province of Rome, this sea port on the Tyrrhenian Sea, is known as the 'ancient town' and welcomes visitors with its 2 piers and lighthouse. With characteristic annual festivals and celebrations of its long history, Civitavecchia makes for the perfect stop to see a thriving Italian town and to sample the highly-celebrated local swordfish delicacy.
Santorini is indisputably one of the most romantic islands in the world, a paradise destination famed for its breathtaking scenery and distinctive blue and white architecture clinging to the cliffs. Combine the rich past of an ancient port city with year-round wonderful weather and some of the most cutting-edge modern architecture in France, and you get Marseille. It's one of southern France's most active cities and perhaps its most enticing. It's no wonder Marseille has been voted European Capital of Culture in 2013.
