Your Destinations

With a plethora of tropical islands, the Great Barrier Reef, Ayers Rock and the iconic Sydney Opera House, it should come as no surprise that Australia is filled with unforgettable adventures. From the world’s largest surf festival in Queensland to unique Aborigine ceremonies across the country, this diverse nation is brimming with cultural experiences.

There is no other destination on the planet that combines beautiful beaches with hip cities, indigenous tales, expansive rainforests, kangaroos, and boomerang throwing. Australia is an ideal place to visit for anyone who is keen to get outside and explore its rugged landscape. Families with young children will never be short of things to do, while hiking enthusiasts may like to venture away from the tourist tracks for a challenging trek with jaw-dropping scenery.

Sydney

With a world-famous bay, dreamy beaches, designer shops, hipster cafes, gourmet restaurants, and notable party venues, Sydney is one of Australia's premier cities. Sydney is Australia's most populous city with an urban area of more than 4.2 million people. It is the capital of the State of New South Wales and is located on the south-eastern coast of the country.
This daring city is particularly popular with surfers who flock to its incredible beaches. Sydney is also home to the magnificent Opera House where visitors can take a guided tour to learn more about the productions that are performed here.

Referred to as the "coathanger", the Sydney Bay Bridge is a must-see landmark that is best explored by bike.

Brisbane

Brisbane is an energetic city with a vibrant nightlife, a reputable foodie scene, elegant parks, and historic architecture. Renting a bicycle is a great way to uncover this city and soak up its neighbourhood charm.

The Story Bridge is an iconic structure that connects the South of the city with the North. The bridge offers panoramic views of Brisbane, and on a clear day, it is possible to see the Glasshouse Mountains and the Gold Coast Hinterland. For an adrenaline-fuelled experience, it is possible for visitors to climb the bridge with a local tour company.

When you are ready to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, head for the Brisbane coast and its idyllic islands. Moreton Island is just a 70-minute ferry ride and is the third largest sand island in the world. It offers a large national park, wonderful snorkelling opportunities, a blue lagoon, and dolphin and whale watching experiences.

Cairns

Along with its UNESCO World Heritage rainforest, visitors flock to the city of Cairns each year to admire the remarkable Great Barrier Reef. Take a trip to the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Kuranda Scenic Railway, and Kuranda Village and awaken your taste buds with tropical fruit and fresh seafood.
At Tjapukai Tree Culture Park you will learn about the Aborigine people, one of the oldest cultures in the world that have lasted for more than 40,000 years.

Jump on a ferry ride to the picturesque Fitzroy Island in just 45 minutes. There, you can take part in a range of activities including rainforest trails, snorkelling at Welcome Bay, and kayaking in the Great Barrier Reef.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 & 2: Sydney
No transfer included. You can easily catch a taxi or a bus to go the center of Sydney.

It’s safe to say some planning is required for a visit to a city this impressive, because no matter what you fancy – shopping, the arts, the outdoors – you’re likely to be bewildered by the scope of choice available here. First up, there are the must-sees – Sydney Opera House; Harbour Bridge; the Sydney Tower for its 360-degree views of the city; the waterside hubs of Darling Harbour and Circular Quay; and the Rocks district for shopping. After dark, the glitzy city comes alive with a ‘larger-than-life’ food and music scene that extends into the early hours. For more laid-back diversions, head down to the beach or hop on a ferry for an extensive tour of the Sydney Harbour, the Parramatta River and numerous locations lying waterside. Overnight: Travelodge Hotel Sydney.

Day 3: Flight from Sydney to Brisbane
In the morning, take your flight from Sydney to Brisbane. No transfer included. You can easily catch a taxi or a bus to go back to the airport. Arriving at Brisbane Airport, you will pick up your Campervan. An International Driver’s license is compulsory.
Day 4: Suggestion - Noosa Heads (approx. 135 km – 1h50)
Noosa Heads, commonly known as Noosa, is set along the glistening waters of Laguna Bay at the northern tip of the Sunshine Coast. What was once a sleepy little seaside village with little more than a few shacks, has developed into one of Australia’s most stylish resort areas. Boasting a stunning natural landscape of crowd-free, crystalline beaches and tropical rainforests, the town's surrounding area supports a range of adventurous outdoor activities and provides a haven for an abundance of rare and threatened wildlife. With its array of riverside restaurants, 5-star accommodation, tree-lined streets, upmarket shops and galleries, a relaxed atmosphere and a number of tourist sites nearby, Noosa makes an ideal beach holiday destination. Overnight: Make your own arrangement.

Day 5 & 6: Suggestion - Hervey Bay (approx. 180 km - 2h20)
Hervey Bay in Queensland is known as the Whale Watch Capital of the World and the gateway to Fraser Island, a captivating World Heritage Site. There are at least 16 walking trails in the area via which to explore the region’s hidden gems and well-known attractions. Walk, rollerblade or cycle along the 14km long Hervey Bay Esplanade, which extends from the Urangan Harbour at the eastern end of the city to Gatakers Bay in the west. Hervey Bay lies along 40kms of coastline and incorporates many suburbs. Its seafront position facilitates an array of water sports that include sea kayaking, skiing, sailing and fishing. Overnight: Make your own arrangement.
Day 7: Suggestion - Rockhampton (approx. 380 km - 4h30)
Rockhampton is known as the beef capital of Australia due to its extraordinary number of cattle, but there is plenty more on offer in this charming seaside town than merely incredible steaks. Founded in 1853, the town boasts some delightful historical architecture including heritage post offices, historic streetscapes, majestic cathedrals and quaint private homes. Popular tourist attractions in the region include the Rocky Markets, the Mount Archer National Park, the botanic gardens, Olsen's Caverns, Cooper Downs Cattle Station, the Rockhampton Art Gallery as well as a number of outstanding local beaches. The concentration of well-preserved old buildings, the tree-lined streets, and the lazy Fitzroy river running peacefully alongside Quay Street, all make this gracious and elegant coastal city one of the finest destinations in all of Queensland. Overnight: Make own arrangement.

Day 8 & 9: Suggestion - Airlie Beach (approx. 480 km – 5h30)
Situated on a tropical peninsula on the east coast of Queensland, Airlie Beach offers an array of activities to tick off your bucket list. With temperatures at a stable 32˚C for most of the year, popular leisure options include parasailing, skydiving, snorkelling, diving, boat tours and jetskiing. Just off the coast of Airlie Beach is idyllic Whitsundays Island and the Great Barrier Reef, with its spectacular diving opportunities. Visitors can spend relaxing days reading and sunbathing in and around Airlie Beach Lagoon, or discover the peninsula’s vibrant markets, beaches and rainforests. Airlie Beach maintains an energetic nightlife all year round, with bustling restaurants, pubs and clubs scattered along the main street. Overnight: Make your own arrangement.
Day 10: Suggestion - Townsville (approx. 275 km – 3h10)
With its captivating charm and plenty of fascinating tourists attractions, this laidback city oozes quirky character and a quiet cosmopolitan atmosphere. Resting on the shores of Cleveland Bay and offering spectacular views of the exquisite Magnetic Island lying just off the coast, Townsville attracts its fair share of visitors who are drawn to its golden sandy beaches and its year-round sunny skys. Popular activities in the area include: exploring the tropical rainforests and waterfalls of the Paluma Range National Park; snorkelling or diving the Great Barrier Reef; hopping over to the idyllic paradise of Magnetic Island; or simply hanging out in the town’s numerous lively restaurants and bars. Townsville offers an intriguing combination of rainforest, reef, glorious beaches, and rugged outback along with all the attractions and facilities of a thriving city.
Overnight: Make your own arrangement.

Day 11 & 12: Suggestion - Port Douglas (approx. 410 km – 5h15)
A sleepy fishing village in the 60s, Port Douglas has evolved into a sophisticated modern town, and a more serene alternative to nearby Cairns for exploring the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Hailed as a scuba-diving and snorkelling paradise, this resort destination on the Coral Sea in North Queensland offers miles of pristine palm-lined beaches, and plenty of shopping, wining and dining experiences. A short distance out of town, Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation and Mossman Gorge are not to be missed. Overnight: Make your own arrangement.
Day 13: Cairns (approx. 68 km – 1h10)
Return your Campervan at Cairns Airport then make you own way to your hotel. You can easily catch a taxi or a bus. Bay Village Tropical Retreat & Apartments, Cairns or similar.

Once a sleepy sugar-milling town, Cairns in North Queensland is now a vibrant cosmopolitan city and a premier destination for sailing, diving and snorkelling. Its tropical waters are home to the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, while lush rain forests cover the surrounding areas. Ways to make the most of this coastal paradise include cycling along the 14km of sandy beachfront, or rafting through rapids to view the ruins of Mission Beach. Other popular activities include visiting Cooktown for a taste of history, or taking a scenic drive through the farmlands, popping in at the various village markets along the way. In the town centre, visit the Tiapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park for a musical and dance interpretation of Aboriginal history; or relax at Cairns Esplanade for perfect seaside dining experience coupled with a romantic sunset.

Day 14: Departure
Your trip to Australia comes now to the end. Transfer back to the airport at your own leisure and then take your departure flight home.

Where to stay with your Campervan

You cannot just park up where you feel like to camp overnight. You will find many designated areas throughout all states and territories that do allow free or low-cost camping (with basic facilities)- Campsites generally cost between $20 (unpowered) and $60 (powered with facilities) depending on the location and the facilities.

We strongly recommend you stay at a caravan (RV) park. Australia has an extensive network of caravan parks in all major tourist centres and most towns. Caravan parks offer excellent recreational opportunities, plus essential shower and toilet facilities. Powered sites allow you to connect your vehicle to electricity and charge the battery; we suggest you connect to power at least every second night.

Booking ahead during peak season is recommended. In Australia, there are three major chains of caravan parks as well as a myriad of independent operators. For more information regarding caravan parks and their locations, get in touch with one of these major chains:
BIG4 Holiday Parks – www.big4.com.au
Discovery Holiday Parks – www.discoveryholidayparks.com.au
Family Parks – www.familyparks.com.au

Pass and permit
Whether you’re visiting during the day or staying overnight, some national parks charge an entry fee (generally those with high volumes of visitors) to raise funds for maintaining roads, facilities and other kinds of infrastructure projects. This money may also be put towards conserving threatened species and their natural habitats. Passes and permits can vary between vehicle passes, camping fees and annual passes, and it is up to you to obtain the correct kind of visitor pass for your intended stay.

Just as caravan parks tend to fill up quickly during school holidays and long weekends, so too can national parks, so we recommend pre-purchasing your pass and permits well in advance. For more information about Australia’s National Parks and purchasing passes and permits in different states and territories, visit the following website: www.derm.qld.gov.au (Queensland).
