Arrive in Style
• Airport: In order to ensure that you will have a pleasant vacation, which already starts at the airport, we would like to kindly inform you about the following entry requirements to avoid possible misunderstandings:
Due to government regulations, adults and children over 6 years of age arriving at an Egyptian airport require a negative PCR test result. It is recommended that the test is performed a maximum of 72 hours before your arrival in your country of origin. Please ensure that you always carry a paper copy of the result in English when travelling (digital copies and results in other languages are not accepted) and present it upon request.
An alternative option is a PCR test on-site at the airport for USD 30, -. Estimated time to receive the result is 24 to 48 hours. During this time, guests must remain in their hotel room and may not leave the room until official approval is received.
• Private transfers: Vehicles are cleaned and disinfected for your arrival. The drivers wear masks and gloves for your safety. Hand sanitiser and protective masks are provided for your convenience, and it is mandatory to wear a mask while travelling.
• Parking: A free parking area with easy access is located in front of the hotel.
• Car type: Kindly be informed that the Egyptian government allows a maximum of two people to be transported in the rear seat of a limousine. If the amount of guests travelling together exceeds this number, please request a minibus or multiple cars.
• Soma Bay Gate: Please note that there will be a body temperature check conducted at the entrance of Soma Bay by Soma Bay security.

A Warm Welcome
• Check-in: This process will be conducted with a separating desk shield for your safety by one of our colleagues and one guest (for each couple or family) at a time. Therefore, please expect some waiting time in case there are several arrivals. All pens and key cards are disinfected after each use, and our Front Office team will provide all necessary information before completing the check-in.

• Distance floor: Please follow the instructions displayed on the lobby floor to ensure the compliance of social distancing requirements throughout your visit.
• Do Not Enter My Room: This is a new option available to all guests. Although all services remain available, our Housekeeping team will not enter your room during your stay unless you request them to do so. Room-service deliveries, luggage assistance and other services will take place in front of your room.
• Luggage cleaning: All luggage items are cleaned and disinfected before being delivered to rooms.
• Lavatories: All public lavatories, including in the lobby, are deeply cleaned and sanitised constantly.

Rooms & Amenities
• Amenities: Hand sanitiser and protective masks are available in all rooms on the day of arrival.
• Reading materials: Magazines and brochures have been removed but are available upon request.
• Cleaning: Procedures have been further enhanced to include a special cleaning and disinfection plan for guestrooms to ensure that all room features, furniture and surfaces are thoroughly disinfected, in line with Egyptian safety and health regulations. Beds are sanitised, as well as all furniture, fixtures and fittings.
• Laundry: All linen is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected using the optimum detergents in their correct dosage.
• Lifts are limited to a maximum capacity of two guests at a time. Staircases are recommended to be used as an alternative.

Restaurants & Bars
• Temperature check: For your safety, daily body temperature checks will be conducted at the entrance of the main restaurant, The View.
• Hand sanitiser: Guests are kindly requested to use the sanitising station before entering the restaurant.
• An attractive selection of breakfast and dinner dishes is prepared and served for you at our live-cooking stations directly onto your plate in strict adherence to current hygienic and social distance requirements.
• Breakfast: From 7:00 until 11:00 in the main restaurant, The View.
• Lunch: Will be available in the Al Mar restaurant or served directly to your sunbed for your convenience from 12:00 until 16:30.
• Dinner: From 18:30 until 22:00 in the main restaurant, The View.
• Kids (up to 12 years): For breakfast, lunch and dinner, our little guests can choose from a dedicated Kids’ menu.
• Drinks: Relish freshly squeezed juices and refreshing drinks at our pool restaurant, Al Mar, from 10:00 until sunset or at our Beachcomber Bar from 9:00 until sunset.
• La Pergola and Bamboo Shoot restaurants: Kindly be informed that our themed restaurants will remain closed until further notice.
• Distance floor: Please follow the instructions displayed on the restaurant floor to ensure the compliance of social distancing requirements throughout your visit.
• Tables: A maximum of four guests per table has been introduced (up to six people for families travelling together). Spacing between tables has been reconfigured to respect the requirements of the Egyptian government.
• Cleaning: Hygiene measures have been further enhanced. After each dining experience, tables and chairs are disinfected, and all tableware and glassware are exchanged. Cutlery and menu cards are disinfected in accordance with health regulations. The cashier and point-of-sale terminals are regularly cleaned.
• Kitchen service: Our chefs will change their gloves every 20 minutes to ensure the highest hygiene standards according to a pre-set alarm.
• Suppliers: Procedures regarding contact with our suppliers and the delivery of all produce have been revised.

Room Service
• Operating hours: Available 24 hours.
• Delivery: Procedures have been revised to respect privacy and to ensure a safe distance is maintained. Hot boxes or cloches will be used at all times.
• Cleaning: Service trolleys and hot boxes are disinfected after each delivery.

Fitness Centre
• Gym: Enjoy our fitness equipment inside and outside the gym, ensuring sufficient distance between guests.
• Cleaning: The gym will be disinfected every hour by our team. Guests will be requested to clean the equipment after usage.
• Spa: Due to governmental restrictions, the spa facilities, including lockers/changing rooms, remain closed until further notice.

Beach & Pools
• Beach: Walk along our pristine beach and be part of various water activities. To ensure the compliance with social distancing requirements, all sunbeds are placed at least 4 metres apart from each other.
• Sundowner: Bean bags will be placed in a way that ensures social distancing.
• Cleaning: Kindly note that our dedicated and permanent attendant will take care of the continuous cleaning and disinfection of the beach lavatories. The pool water is treated with chlorine at recommended standards, and parameters are monitored by a professional team throughout the day.
• Pools: While you can indulge yourself in the hotel’s extensive area of four pools, the surrounding relaxation zones offer equally sufficient space to enjoy your privacy and ensure social distancing.
• Towels: To ensure your safety, individually wrapped beach towels will be provided at the towel centre at the beach.


Leisure activities: Kindly note that all (water-) sports activities will remain available following governmental guidelines with respect to the number of participants as well as the required cleaning instructions. For further information on any activity, kindly contact our Guest Relations team.

• Snorkelling boat trip: Our guests can explore the colourful underwater world of the Red Sea and extend their knowledge about the creatures beneath the water. Prior reservation required.
• Private boat trip: Indulge yourself in an exclusive moment on the Red Sea with our private yacht, ‘Salma’, and watch the sunset on the high seas. Prior reservation required.
• Squash: Seize the opportunity to play some good shots at the hotel’s squash hall. Prior reservation required.
• Aqua gym (daily): Participate at our main pool from 11:30 to 12:00 noon. No reservation required.
• Quad tour: Immerse yourself in an exciting quad safari ride through the Egyptian desert. Please kindly contact our Recreation team for availability.
• Horse riding: Ride along the sandy beach during sunset, enjoyable as a family or couple or by yourself. Available at the Jasmine Horse Stable, located at the entrance of the Soma Bay Gate.

Kids’ Club
• Opening hours: The Kids’ Club will operate daily from 9:00 until 21:00.
• Cleaning: All contact areas will be cleaned after use or on an hourly basis.
• Sanitisation: For their own safety, our little guests will be requested to use the sanitisation station at eye level at the entrance of the Kids’ Club.
• Access: Please follow the instructions of the Kids’ Club attendant closely.

 
Soma Bay Facilities

• Medical Centre: If you feel unwell, do not hesitate to contact our team. It will be our pleasure to take care of you. The nearby Medical Centre in the marina of Soma Bay is prepared to assist in any situation.

• Shuttle Service: Explore Soma Bay with its own shuttle service on the beach or between the hotspots of Soma Bay under revised health measures.

Employees

• All employees are quarantined for 14 days after returning from vacation.
• Body temperature is checked before entering the hotel on a daily basis.   
• Hand sanitisers are available at every single area of the back of house.
• Training and testing scenarios are delivered to employees to ensure their effective performance in how to operate and handle the precautions of COVID-19.
• Accommodating not more than two adults per room in the employee housing allows a proper social distance between employees even after working hours.      
• Employees are transported to the hotel by buses that are disinfected after each transport with a lowered capacity of 50%.
• Information signs are available at the back of house area such as staff entrance, cafeteria, lockers and corridors to keep a consistent awareness level among our employees.

You must ensure you have a valid passport to travel on. 


British passport holders travelling to Egypt normally need a visa.


You can get a visa online at Visa2Egypt. Tourist visas granted using the e-visa system are valid for a maximum of 3 months. Although it’s still possible to get a tourist visa on arrival, it’s better to get one before you travel.


You can get a visa on arrival by payment in Sterling, US Dollars or Euros; the visa fee is US$25 at approved bank kiosks within airport arrival halls, before reaching immigration counters. 


You may also get a visa from an Egyptian Consulate outside of Egypt before you travel. For further information and enquiries, contact the Egyptian Consulate in London.

Public Health England (PHE) has issued advice about E.coli prevention to people travelling to Egypt. This is after a of number travellers, including children, who all visited Hurghada in Egypt, returned with a serious illness caused by E. coli infection.

If you or a member of your party fall ill during your holiday, seek medical advice and report it to the reception, your travel provider, representative or their local agent. A copy of the Travellers Diarrhoea Factsheet can be accessed here.


If vaccinations or other preventive measures are required, you will need to visit your health professional at least 8 weeks before your trip.


There are reports of some hotel doctors overcharging for treatment and medicines. Examine your bill closely and challenge excessive charges. Pharmacies outside hotels will often supply medication at lower prices.


Please note that passport, visa and health requirements can change. It is every traveller’s responsibility to ensure they have a valid passport, any required visas, and all the necessary vaccinations/health requirements as well as adequate insurance.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Please note: The UK Government is currently requesting that all travellers returning to the UK, (with exceptions), must provide their journey and contact details up to 48 hours before arrival, and self-isolate at home for 14 days. These restrictions will be reviewed every three weeks. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) currently advises British nationals against all but essential international travel, and this advice is also being kept under constant review. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, entry to Egypt is unavailable to UK residents until 1st September 2020.

Please note: Travellers must fill out an entry card on arrival and provide proof of sufficient valid travel health insurance. There are health checks with temperature measurements. Depending on the examination, further measures may be taken, possibly including quarantine. Health checks must also be expected when travelling within the country, although domestic travel is currently still restricted. 

Due to increasing infections of COVID 19, the Egyptian government will require all travellers arriving to Egypt to present a negative PCR lab test result certificate for coronavirus starting from 01.09.2020 for all the clients who will arrive to Egypt ( HRG / SSH / RMF / Cairo) and the lab test should be carried out 48 hours before entering Egypt. Guests arriving to the Egyptian airports in the city (Hurghada / Sharm El Sheikh / Marsa Alaam / Taba) who have not got a PCR test certificate can take the PCR test upon arrival. The cost of the PCR test is $30 per person (children 0-6 are free) and the payment is directly payable at the airport to the Civil Aviation Authority.

Please note that a travel insurance covering health costs in the event of coronavirus infection is mandatory.
