Today you will get to enjoy a very Icelandic adventure: horseback riding through its dramatic landscape. The morning will be free to explore but make you're back at your hotel for 1pm where you will be picked up for your tour.
You will be transferred to the Íshestar Riding Center near Heiðmörk Nature reserve on the outskirts of Reykjavík. Here you will be given all the equipment you need for riding: boots, helmet and a cold weather coverall or raincoat. You will then be matched with a horse that fits your own riding ability. After a short lesson on the easy Icelandic riding style, enjoy a guided riding tour on beautiful paths with interesting lava formations and mini forests.
Your guides will point out facts along the way, so you´ll learn about Icelandic nature and culture. Group size is kept small, and the English-speaking guides are happy to answer your questions. The riding time is about 1 ½ hours. Afterwards, you will be returned to your hotel.

Start with a visit to Thingvellir National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the heart and soul of the Icelandic people. Here is where the Vikings founded what would become the world‘s oldest surviving Parliament in 930 A.D: This is also where the European and North American tectonic plates meet, and you can literally walk between continents as you explore this famous park. Known as the Queen of Waterfalls, Gullfoss is a beautiful dual-ledged waterfall thundering into a canyon.
Afterwards you'll head to Laugarvatn, a popular Icelandic resort town for its geothermal steam vents and lake. Relax in the natural steam baths and geothermal pools of the Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Steam baths spa. The steam bath cabins are comfortably built over churning steam vents, providing healthy, relaxing steam. Lounge around in the three geothermal pools, enjoy the sauna, and take a dip in the pristine hot spring-fed lake.
Before returning to Reykjavik, you will be offered some traditional sweet Icelandic rye bread which has been prepared by the spa´s restaurant and slow-baked in the natural hot springs.
