Your Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi

Hanoi is famed for its thriving contemporary art scene and French architecture, visible by the many colonial building scattered throughout the city. While it is rapidly developing, the city has retained many of its traditional cultures and customs.

After a long flight, you will arrive at our thousand-year-old capital – Hanoi. Our guide will meet you at Noi Bai International airport and transfer you to the hotel in the city center. The remainder of the day is your free time to relax. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Exploring the city

Set off for a half-day exploring the key highlights of the city. Visit the complex dedicated to Ho Chi Minh, the nation’s founder and affectionately known to the Vietnamese as “Uncle Ho”. Make the first stop at the historic Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, an imposing monument built to serve as the final resting place of Uncle Ho. Continue walking through the beautiful botanical garden of the Presidential Palace to visit Uncle Ho’s humble house, built based on a rural Vietnamese stilt house with simple design in a tranquil setting, reflecting his simple, pure and noble lifestyle. Tour the One Pillar Pagoda, built in 1049 of wood on a single stone pillar, designed to resemble a lotus blossom, the symbol of purity.

Visit the Temple of Literature, the first university of Vietnam. Constructed in the 11th Century, this stunning temple constitutes a rare example of well-preserved traditional Vietnamese architecture and is featured on the back of the 100,000 Vietnamese dong banknote. Lunch in a restaurant.

Hanoi's Old Quarter, known simply as the 36 Streets, is a must-see for anyone traveling to Vietnam. With a history dating back to about the 13th Century, it used to be a residential, manufacturing, and commercial center where each street was specialized in one specific type of manufacturing or commerce.  Explore the fascinating maze of back streets and challenge yourself by strolling through the dark and tiny alleys that are wide enough for one medium-sized Vietnamese only. Walk around Dong Xuan Market, the biggest wholesale market in the Old Quarter, while enjoying the tantalizing sights, smells, and flavors of local Vietnamese products. Continue to O Quan Chuong, the only one of the 5 gates that once surrounded Thang Long citadel, which remains a real "square gate".

Then, if time permits, visit Long Bien market, set up under the eponym bridge, is the most fascinating place in the city. This market is ranked by the American magazine Conde Nast Traveller in its list of the 7 most attractive markets in the world. Visit Long Bien Bridge, formerly called Paul-Doumer Bridge. It was built during the French Indochina colonization period by the company Daydé & Pillé (a company absorbed by the Eiffel group). Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 3: Off to Ha Long Bay

Upon arrival, welcome drink on board prior to your check-in. Lunch with fresh sea food will be served while boat is cruising through many stone islets, floating villages, small beaches. Visit a floating fishing village, talk and meet with local villagers prior to your swimming or free time at your own on the sundeck. Dinner would be ready at the time the boat anchors off at a quiet designated overnight area. Overnight on board in Ha Long Bay.

Note: The itinerary is subject to change without prior notice according to weather conditions or to availability of boat.

Day 04: Ha Long Bay – Hanoi – Da Nang – Hoi An

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our guide and transfer to Hoi An town. Check in your hotel, relax and overnight in Hoi An.

Day 05: Hoi An – Village explore by boat and by bike

Known as a prosperous trading port between the 15th and 19th Century, the riverside town of Hoi An still retains many remnants of its glorious time as evident in the bustling market and abundance of souvenirs and tailor shops. What makes Hoi An is remarkable is that its Old Quarter has been beautifully preserved. The streets still lined with old tile-roofed shop houses, shady pagodas, and colorful communal halls that contribute to its status as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Take a guided walking tour around Hoi An Ancient Town. Visit the Japanese covered bridge, Chinese assembly hall, a typical Vietnamese merchant’s house, one of the interesting museums and the local market. There’re numerous art galleries, souvenirs and tailor shops where you can get some express made-to-order clothes if you like. The next visit is to home of a craftsman in the old streets. Here you’ll have a brief introduction to the history, shape and color of the lanterns as well as stages of making them. After that you can make a lantern by your own, decorate, pack and keep it as a souvenir of your time in Hoi An. Lunch in a local restaurant.

Hoi An is surrounded by attractive countryside where you can observe the traditional way of agricultural life. The flat, quiet roads around Hoi An are ideal for exploring by bicycle. Today, enjoy a leisure boat trip along Thu Bon river to Hoi An’s countryside. Exchange boat for bicycle and start cycling through winding village roads while enjoying the idyllic countryside scenery. Stop at a local shipbuilding workshop and chat with the owner who has perfected his craft, learning it from the river boat-makers before him. Continue your ride exploring the peaceful island village where you will learn about the diversity of local plants and herbs and visit the home of some local families making rice wine, rice noodles, and rice paper. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 6: Hoi An – Hue

After breakfast, free on your own to relax or discover Hoi An. At 1pm, you will be driven to Hue. On the way there, you will cross the Hai Van Pass which offers a superb panorama of the central coastline and the beach of Lang Co – one of the most beautiful beaches of Vietnam – from its summit. You will also have the chance to visit a traditional fishing village.

Arrival in Hue after 3 hours’ drive, check in hotel then free on your own. Overnight in Hue.

Today, drive about 1.5-hour from downtown Hoi An to Ba Na Hill, a scenic mountainous area with panoramic vistas reminiscent. Standing more than 1,400 meters (4,878 feet) above sea level, the temperature of this place is mostly cool year-round.

Arrive at Ba Na Hills cable car station, ride on a modern system of cable cars and Get a bird's-eye view of nature which is strikingly beautiful, while enjoying a feeling of flying in the blue sky among the clouds and wind. Experience the feeling of walking in the clouds when you walk on the Golden Bridge which seems to be supported by a pair of giant hands jutting out of the mountain.

Then, enjoy your leisure time on Ba Na Hills for further activities such as European Architecture Villas, in-door game, French Wine Cellar, flower beds and pagodas.

Day 7: Hue – Retracing to the royal charm of Hue

Hue, the former Imperial capital, is a tranquil and peaceful city with the magnificent architecture of its citadel, palaces, royal tombs, garden houses, pagodas and temples, built under the Nguyen dynasty on the banks of the Perfume River.

Today, enjoy a short transfer from your hotel to the Imperial Citadel at the centre of the Complex of Hue Monuments inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. And then drive out of the city to visit the Royal Tu Duc tomb, the most impressive of all the royal mausoleums. After exploring the tomb, drive back to downtown Hue with a stop en route at a family-run workshop to learn how incense stick is made. Lunch at a local restaurant.

This afternoon, tour An Hien Garden House, originally the residence of Emperor Duc Duc’s 18th daughter. Continue your visit to Thien Mu pagoda, one of the oldest ancient architectural structures for religious worship in Hue. Conclude your memorable day by a leisure boat trip on Perfume River, time to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the river. Return to your hotel after the tour. Overnight in Hue.

Our half-day city tour takes in most of the highlights and must-see attraction of Ho Chi Minh City. Tour the Reunification Palace to admire the amazing work of its architecture and learn about the great changes of Ho Chi Minh City’s history.

A short drive or walk away is one of Saigon’s most historic landmarks, the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Opt to wander along with the many tantalizing shops of Dong Khoi Street, once known as Rue Catinat and end up your memorable day at the bustling Ben Thanh Market to enjoy shopping and discover your bargaining power. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh.

Day 9: Ho Chi Minh – Ben Tre/Mekong Delta – Can Tho

The Mekong Delta, “the rice bowl of Vietnam”, is a highly fertile plain with its myriad waterways, lush and green paddy fields, tropical fruit orchards, and fish farms. Rural life here remains in many ways similar to how it was lived far back in the past. Geographically featured as the gateway to the Delta, Ben Tre is an ideal gem for travelers who are seeking a glimpse of agrarian river life.

Today, escape from the high-energy city and set off for a memorable day of exploring Ben Tre province, the gateway to the Delta, by the charming Apricot Boat that features the combination of modernity and tastefully traditional riverboat style. Join our dedicated crew for a slow journey that brings you to all the colorful aspects of Mekong Delta: beautiful natural landscape filled by tropical fruit farms and rice paddies.

Shore excursions include the home of a tropical fruit farmer, the family-run business where almost every part of the coconut is used for candies and crafts. Travel on the narrow village lanes by traditional tuk-tuk or bicycle passing through sleeping village, local cottage industries, canals, and fruitful orchards. Followed by a ride by traditional rowing boat, gain an up-close experience of the network of narrow canals typical of the Mekong Delta. One of the highlights of the trip is to meet the local farmers and engage in a friendly chat with them to understand their daily farming tasks.

Enjoy a tasty lunch with Mekong Delta specialties at the peaceful Apricot Riverside restaurant and then head out to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho

Day 10: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market – Ho Chi Minh

This morning, depart your hotel and travel to the riverfront directly across from the famed Cai Rang floating market – the market itself has shrunk over the years thanks to the development of roads and bridges, however, it is still fascinating to watch the wholesale boats navigate the river.

Enjoy a local cup of traditional coffee, while having the opportunity to take some colorful pictures. Then, you are taken to a nearby rice noodle factory, where you view the process of manufacture – the owners may well be coming to the end of their working day and hanging the ‘noodle pancakes’ out to dry – again some great photo opportunities here.

Travel to a small village on the outskirts of Can Tho where you visit a Cacao farm, meet the owner, and view the whole process of chocolate creation, from bean to bar. Sample the chocolate in all its different forms including a hot chocolate drink – afterward you can take a short walk around the farm.

Moving on you will be driven to the Can Tho Museum (closed on Monday, Friday, and weekend afternoon), which is home to more 5000 objects and historical relics. This is the largest museum in Mekong Delta, showcasing the agriculture and river life of the region as well as how the Vietnamese, Chinese and Khmer ethnic groups came to peacefully stay together. Drive back Saigon after the tour. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh.

Entry Requirements

You must ensure you have a valid passport to travel on.

Until 30 June 2021, ‘British Citizen’ passport holders travelling for tourism can enter Vietnam for up to a maximum of 15 days (counting the dates of entry and exit) without a visa. If you have a different type of British nationality – for example ‘British national (overseas)’ you’ll need to get a visa before entering Vietnam.

If you’re planning to make multiple visits in a short period to Vietnam, consider applying for a multiple entry visa. You can’t get another 15-day visa waiver within 30 days of your last visit - you’ll need to get a visa or an e-visa to re-enter the country.

For longer durations of 16 to 30 days (for example if you arrive in Vietnam on 23rd August and leave on 7th September), you must get an e-visa online before you travel. The use of an e-visa is limited to certain entry/exit points which you must select at the time of application. E-visas are only applicable to ‘British Citizen’ passport holders.
