Day 1: Urguench - Khiva
- Arrival in Urguench. Transfer to Khiva (21 miles) and check into your hotel (available from 2PM).
- Don't waste any time in this fascinating destination, and set off this afternoon on a walking tour of Ichan-Kala, accompanied by a local guide.
- Of note is the Muhammad Aminkhana Madrasa, the largest madrasa in Central Asia, which is located in the old quarter of the city, surrounded by a fortress wall and converted into a state museum-historical and archaeological reserve.
- Observe the Kalta Minor ('shortened minaret') - a minaret located in front of the main façade of the Muhammad Amin Khan madrasa, standing 26 metres high.
Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Khiva - Bukhara
- Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before it's time for your transfer to the station for the next leg of the journey.
- Alight the train to Bukhara (departure 11.10 AM), where you will be comfortably ensconced in a sleeper car.

Day 4: Bukhara
- Relish a tasty breakfast at the hotel before visiting Bukhara with a local guide.
- Contemplate the architectural beauty of the Lyabi-Hauz complex (dating back to the 16th-17th centuries) which, in the Middle Ages, was a commercial centre. It includes the Nodir Divan Begi madrasa, the Kukeldash madrasa (the largest in Bukhara, dating from the 16th century), and the famous Khoja Nasreda monument.
- Admire the Magoki-Attari mosque (9th century), or the Mokh mosque ( which translates as `deep mosque`). It's considered to be one of the first mosques of pre-Islamic times.
- Enjoy a meander through the first passage of the Toki Sarrafon commercial dome where you can immerse yourself in the picturesque atmosphere of an ancient Oriental bazaar replete with exquisite silks, carpets and more.
