Please Note: The itinerary seen below is for a 9-night stay. Guests opting to choose the 6-night tour will follow the same itinerary as seen below, but will leave Chiang Mai for the airport on Day 7. Arrive at Bangkok international airport for a meet and greet with your driver and a shared transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Perhaps you could indulge yourself with a traditional Thai Massage, surprise your taste buds with the amazing local flavors and cap off the day by enjoying sunset in any of the stylish rooftop bars which have blossomed in the city’s skyscrapers in recent years… the options are limitless. Overnight in Bangkok.
DAY 2: Bangkok (Breakfast Included)
Full day at leisure to discover Bangkok on your own or to take one of the many optional excursions available on the spot. For those who have never been to Bangkok, we suggest a half day tour of the most popular Buddhist temple and landmark in the city of angels (optional, not included). The Royal Grand Palace, a great architectural masterpiece of several buildings from the outside and a magical inside was used as a royal residence from the 18th century to the mid-20th century. It is without any doubt a national reference and possibly the most visited royal monument of Thailand, and it shouldn’t be missed. The building houses the "Wat Phra Kaew", Bangkok's most sacred temple, in which is located the famous Emerald Buddha. Overnight in Bangkok.
DAY 3: Bangkok - Chiang Mai (Breakfast Included)
Full day at leisure until your shared transfer to Bangkok Airport for your flight to Chiang Mai. Pick-up at 13:30 in central Chiang Mai followed by a guided tour of the old town and the city’s main temples. Visit the historic Wat Suan Dok and admire its 48-metre-high Sri Lankan-style chedi, which overlooks the Royal Cemetery. Continue to Wat Phra Sing in the old town and appreciate the beauty of this large complex of more than 60 buildings before visiting 14th century Wat Chedi Luang in the very heart of the old city. This ancient temple has a more rustic appearance and has been restored after decades of decay. Discover, too, the nearby Wat Chet Yot and Wat Chiang Man. Due to its age, the Chet Yot temple betrays some signs of ruin while the Chiang Man temple is renowned for its numerous elephant sculptures. Overnight in hotel in Chiang Mai. (Chiang Mai City Tour start 13:30, and finishes approx. 18:20).
Breakfast at the hotel is followed by a visit to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep to enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the city. The temple is reached by climbing a 309-step naga staircase or via cable car (included). If the views are stunning, the temple itself is even better and boasts a number of dazzling structures. Continue to the bustling Wararot Market, a historical landmark renowned for the variety and quality of its produce, before visiting the fragrant flower market. In the evening, enjoy a khantoke dinner, a traditional northern Thai feast combined with a selection of traditional cultural performances inspired by the Lanna kingdom, which dominated northern Thailand for almost five centuries. Overnight in hotel in Chiang Mai. Breakfast and dinner included. (start 08:30, and finishes approx. 21:30).
DAY 5: Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai (Breakfast and Lunch Included)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading into the jungle to become acquainted with Thailand’s national animal during a visit to the Thai Elephant Care Centre. The care centre was established to provide care for elderly elephants retired from logging and camps. Appreciate these gentle giants, learn more about their nature, their individual traits, their lifestyles, their talents and their charms. If time is right, watch them play during their bath-time. After lunch, continue by road via Doi Saket with a stop at Wat Rong Khun, nicknamed the ‘White Temple’, a dazzling temple built in the 1990s. Its ornate all-white exterior with embedded pieces of mirror gives it a resplendent appearance, which makes it one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand. Continue to Chiang Rai, arriving in the afternoon and transferring to your accommodation. Overnight in hotel in Chiang Rai. (start 7:00, and finish approx. 17:30).
DAY 6: Chiang Rai - Golden Triangle - Chiang Rai (Breakfast Included)
Breakfast at the hotel and visit Chiang Sean for a panoramic view of the Golden Triangle where Laos, Myanmar and Thailand meet where the mighty River Mekong flows through. Hop on a boat and take a trip around the Golden Triangle on a boat ride lasting around 30 minutes. After, enjoy lunch at the Imperial Golden Triangle Resort and transfer to Chiang Mai Hotel approximately 5 hrs. Check in and free day at leisure. Overnight in hotel in Chiang Mai.
DAY 7: Chiang Mai (Breakafast Included - END OF TOUR FOR 6-NIGHT STAY)
Breakfast at hotel and free day at leisure.
After breakfast at hotel, pick up at your hotel to Doi Inthanon, at 8,514 feet above sea level is the highest peak in Thailand. It´s located 105 kilometres from Chiang Mai and its National Park is one of the most fertile natural treasure troves in all of Chiang Mai province. The invigorating mountain air and the fresh, cool climate make it a rejuvenating break from the city. It is very popular among bird watchers where more than 383 species have been reported. On this tour we visit a Karen hill tribe village, Mae Kland and Wachiratharn Waterfalls, the twin Chedis built by the Royal Thai Air Force to honour their Majesties King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit, and the summit, where you will find the shrine of Chao Inthawitchyanon, the former Prince of Chiang Mai. We will have a short experience in the Park along "Michael´s Trail" that is a beautiful and unforgettable experience. Lunch on this tour is served at a local restaurant.
DAY 9: Chiang Mai - Full Day Lampang (Breakfast and Lunch Included)
Breakfast at hotel, only a mere 90 kilometres south of Chiang Mai, the city of Lampang is considered to be one of the main gateways to the north. We visit the Lampang Elephant Conservation Centre to watch a 1-hour demonstration on the use of elephants, which used to work in the logging industry. Continue to Lampang for a 30 minutes tour through the city center by a typical means of travel, a horse-drawn carriage. It is the only city in Thailand, using this form of transportation the tour also covers the Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, the major temple and the Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao, where the famous Emerald Buddha Image (now at the Wat Phra Keo in Bangkok) has been kept for 32 years.
