Your Itinerary —
Day 1: AIRPORT / COLOMBO (Approx Transfer time: 40 - 50 Minutes)
Arrival at Colombo International Airport. Here, you will be met by a professional Chauffeur Guide Lecturer of Hayleys Tours.
(STANDARD CHECK-IN AT 1400HRS. EARLY CHECK-IN IS SUBJECT TO AVIALBILITY ON DAY OF ARRIVAL)
After the formalities at the airport you will be escorted to your air conditioned vehicle. Next, transfer to your hotel in Colombo. In the evening explore the commercial city of Colombo.
Sri Lanka's commercial capital and the largest city with the highest population, Colombo is situated in the Western Province. It is a fascinating town which has a blend of eastern and western cultures where all colours of the island are drawn together. Many visitors appreciate the city's colonial heritage and enjoy the vast range of fine shopping and dining outlets that can be located within the rush of its urban buzz.
Overnight at The Kingbury, Colombo
Day 2: COLOMBO / PINNAWALA / KANDY
After breakfast leave for the Pinnawala Elephant orphanage (Approx Transfer time: 1 ½ - 2 HRS)
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is the home for young Elephants who have been displaced or lost from their natural habitat, located at Pinnawala village in Sabaragamuwa province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is the best place for an up close and personal experience with the world’s largest land mammals! Today with 70 elephants herein, Pinnawela has become the home to the largest captive group of elephants in the world. Feeding time at 9:15 am or 1:15 pm.
Thereafter proceed to Kandy (Approx Transfer time: 1 ½ - 2 HRS)
Kandy is a lovely city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings retains an aura of grandeur, which time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its centre, it is the site of the renowned "Temple of the Tooth". Kandy and its satellite villages is the centre of the island’s handicraft industry and its traditional dances are the most spectacular in the country.
Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sinhalese kings and is a UNESCO world heritage site partly due to the temple.
Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 03: KANDY/ PERADENIYA / KANDY
After breakfast leave for the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya (approx transfer time: 10 - 15 min)
This was originally the King’s own royal pleasure garden that was later converted in to a botanic garden and opened to the public. At the Royal Botanical Gardens at ‘Peradeniya’ you could treat your eyes to an amazing, wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and indigenous flora, and an orchid house with the largest collection in Asia.
On completion do a city tour of Kandy. You will also have the time to do some shopping in Kandy, where you could fetch souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewelry and reed-ware at bargain prices!!
Late afternoon, make a visit to The Temple of the Tooth Relic is located in the royal palace complex which houses the Relic of the tooth of Buddha.
If time permits after that witness a Cultural Dance performance in the evening. These classical dance forms are associated with the performance of various rituals and ceremonies which are centuries old and are based on the folk religion and folk beliefs going back to times before the advent and acceptance of Buddhism by the Sinhalese people in the third century B.C.
On completion return to the Hotel.
Overnight at the Mahaweli Reach, Kandy
Day 04: KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA
After breakfast, proceed to Nuwara Eliya (approx transfer time: 1 ½ - 2 HRS).
Nuwara Eliya is set in the heart of tea-country is a beautiful town where the British succeeded in creating a replica of the English countryside, with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne. Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church, a famous golf course and beautiful parks give the place an air of nostalgia. Situated 6,200 feet above sea level, the air is cool and fresh – a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Pony and Horse riding is available at the turf club of Nuwara Eliya to facilitate you with some sports and adventure. Visit a tea plantation situated in the misty mountains of the Sri Lankan Hills, to experience the ultimate feel of a tea plantation and its process.
Afternoon proceed to do a sightseeing tour of the beautiful town of Nuwara Eliya
On completion check into hotel in Nuwara Eliya
Overnight at the Jetwing St Andrews, Nuwara Eliya.
Day 05: NUWARA ELIYA / YALA (approx transfer time: 3 ½ - 4 HRS)
After breakfast proceed to Yala
The elephant is undoubtedly the best known attraction at Yala, seen in small & large herds. Herds of spotted deer are seen all over the park. Monkeys the pinkish rhesus and the grey faced Langur monkey, live and play on the tree tops and the ground below. Wild buffalo & wild boar could give a good surprise & the sight of a leopard sunning itself or drinking water at a water hole could be memorable experience. The peacock is easily the most famous of the birds at Yala. The painted stork, many varieties of heron, the spoonbill, the bee-eater, parakeets, and king-fisher & wood pecker are some of the birds can be seen in the park.
Once in Yala, check into hotel and relax.
Overnight at the Jetwing Yala, Yala
DAY 06: YALA
After breakfast proceed to the famous Yala National Park and engage in an exciting Half-day 4x4 wild safari.
Yala is one of the best spots available for wildlife observers and photographers. Apart from the wildlife, the park consists of a range of vegetation from grassland to dense jungle with an abundance of water streams, lagoons and lakes. Apart from the highest concentration of leopards, the park contains a numbers of animals including Asian elephants, crocodiles, wild boar, water buffalo and grey langurs. Birdlife includes White bellied sea eagle in parklands and Waders, Painted storks and Black necked stork in the wetlands. Sirkeer Malkoha and Sri Lanka Jungle flow are few of the Sri Lankan endemic species that can be found in Yala.
The total open area of Yala national park could be viewed from the one day jeep safari that is available at the park entrance. You will be provided a trained guide who’ll take you around the forest. This service is not usually available during the night time as a safety precaution, taken in the favour of the tourists. But for those who are prepared, small shacks and chalets are available for rent inside the jungle, to spend your night in the wild.
Upon completion return to hotel and relax.

After breakfast proceed to your beach stay in Balapitiya (Approx Transfer time: 3 ½ – 4 HRS). Check into the hotel and relax.

Day 08 - 11 or 13: BALAPITIYA
Breakfast at hotel, spend the full day at leisure by the beach or enjoy the facilities of the hotel.
