Your Itinerary In Detail

Colombo - Dambulla - Sigiriya - Minneriya National Park

Day 1: Arrive to Colombo International airport and be welcomed by your driver guide who will immediately transfer you to Sigiriya via Kurunegala. Arrive and check-in to the hotel. You will have the rest of the day at your leisure. Delight in a pleasant evening dinner & stay overnight stay at your hotel.

The transfer will take approximately 4 hours during the day in a private vehicle.

Day 2: Wake up and enjoy a breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Sigiriya and then, visit the Lion Rock, Sigiriya. Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is known as the 8th wonder of the world. This rock fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more than 18 years.

In a sheltered a pocket, approached by a spiral stairway, are the famous frescoes. The summit of the rock, with an area of nearly two hectares was the site of the palace and the outer wall was built on the very brink of the precipice. The Central Cultural Fund has restored 5th century water gardens to their former glory.

After exploring this incredible site, leave for Habarana. Here we do a village tour in the countryside in a tuk tuk. Finally, you will have a boat ride on the Habarana lake in a traditional fishing boat (called a catamaran, derived from the English word). Then, you will visit a traditional plantation before heading to Minneriya.

In Minneriya you will experience an exciting safari at Minneriya National Park. Here you will have lots of fantastic opportunities to see many herding elephants up close; the park has become a popular destination for wildlife safaris, where you can also see wild buffaloes, sambar deer, Asian does and occasionally a sloth bear! The animals are mostly visible in the very early morning and before sunset.

After the safari, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Dambulla - Nalanda Gedige - Matale - Kandy

Day 3: Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. This morning we continue to Matale and en route, you will visit the fascinating and mysterious Nalanda Gedige, built between the 8th and 10th century.

The structure was rediscovered in 1893. This place is considered to be the center of Sri Lanka and was designed as a Hindu temple with a mandapa, an entrance hall, a short passage and an ambulatory around the sacred centre. There is no sign of Hindu gods today, and the temple is said to have been used by Buddhists, being a very picturesque place in the middle of nowhere away from the tourist crowds, you can soak up the peaceful atmosphere.

Continuing the mini-tour to Matale, you will visit a spice garden at the gates of the ancient capital of Kandy. Spices are mainly grown in this region of Sri Lanka long before tea. Here, we discover the different spices growing in Sri Lanka and learn how they are grown and used. The most famous spice known around the world is the Sri Lanka cinnamon tree which gave its name to one of the beautiful areas of Colombo: the Cinnamon Gardens.

Next, we arrive in Kandy where you will check in to the hotel. In the evening visit Kandy the hill capital of Sri Lanka.

Kandy was the last royal capital of the country until 1815 and its attachment to the British crown. It is today the cultural and spiritual core of Sri Lanka, it was registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988.

In the morning visit Dalada Maligawa which is located in the royal palace complex which houses the Relic of the tooth of Buddha preciously. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country.

After your visit, proceed to your hotel for dinner & an overnight stay.

Sri Lanka is a lush, tropical island paradise, famously described by Marco Polo as "undoubtedly the finest island of its size in the world". This is a culturally rich and environmentally diverse country, with nine World Heritage Sites (the oldest dating back to the 3rd Century BC); 86 species of mammals (including elephant and leopard) and more than 400 bird species (including 26 endemics); a colorful array of flowering plants and trees, and a Hill Country famous for tea; 14 National Parks out of 100 areas protected by the government; and an Indian Ocean coastline boasting palm-fringed and sandy tropical beaches.

Visit ancient sites and marvel over  legendary temples, or see the sacred home of the world’s oldest living tree, Anuradhapura. Take a safari tour in one of Sri Lanka’s national parks to encounter elephants, leopards, water buffaloes, and exotic birds, or spend the day relaxing on the dazzlingly white, often untrodden, beaches.

Try your hand at a little surfing or retreat up into the Sri Lankan hills to experience a more temperate climate and the lavish greenery of the tea plantations. And if you can even trek through the rainforests with an experienced guide or just take in the breathtaking vistas on a spectacular train ride.
